But they are relatively easy fears to overcome, as I mentioned earlier, the fear is mostly learned behaviour as we all know spiders are harmless.

Apart from the fact that neither one are native and part of the food chain here. Plus, I love being around a diverse demographic, humans included.

I move spiders to suitable places, they gotta live somewhere. I’ve done a few spider surveys, they really are fascinating, especially at a macro level.

We have a massive disconnect between “us” and “them” when it comes to wildlife. The world around us is alien - most people can’t even identify common trees, plants or basic animals. Being scared of flying insects, spiders, bats etc. is absolutely ridiculous and a learned behaviour and is probably a partial cause of the general wildlife decline we’re experiencing. The latest butterfly count has just been released and the results are not good.

I love them.

This is a state backed operation. The settlers are protected by the IDF and rarely charged with any crime. I have family working in Palestine for aid and medical agencies and they're witnessing these things on a daily basis. I'm not posting further on this, especially on these threads for obvious reasons.

Also, more apples, Sloes and blackberries than I can use. Neighbours don’t want any 🤷

I used to walk or bike miles as a kid to find conkers. I now have 5 (2 large) Horse Chestnut trees in my garden but no one is interested, I’ve offered the local kids access to the garden (the parents obviously, I’m not a weirdo) and my own family members kids. No interest whatsoever 😟 Trees are full of conkers this year too.

I think also some people confuse the in home device with the meter and they can be problematic and not reflect the actual bill as they don’t normally include VAT or daily charges on the display.

To go against the narrative, I had a new 3 phase connection and had no meter choice. They fitted a smart meter with an in house display unit and it’s been brilliant. I can scroll through the display to see current use, daily or weekly use etc. It sends readings daily and my online account is updated accordingly so I can see what’s in my account and the charges involved. I’m with Ovo

So, I had to cancel my birthday trip to France due to a change in circumstance so looking to go somewhere late Oct. early Nov. Wife wants somewhere warm so I'm discounting Europe (yes I know it's warmish in Cyprus/Tenerife/Greece etc. but don't fancy them). She has just mentioned the phrase I've been dreading for years - what about a cruise 😱 One of her work colleagues loves cruises and has planted the seed in her head... It won't happen but to be safe I'm trawling destinations to find a solution so she forgets. Wish me luck.

Just said on the news that we’re going to have the wettest autumn since forever. It was 8.5 degrees outside this morning, forecast for next week is potentially in the 20’s…
