  1. All of the aid agencies seem to confirm the death figures. I’m amazed at the amount of people who believe everything that comes from the IDF or Israeli government and dismiss everything else, given the history of lies over the many years of occupation (killings of innocent civilians, children shot by snipers, journalists murdered, and that’s without talking about treatment of Palestinians by settlers).

    Dogs

And I will say again that you are wrong. My dogs (and other animals) were all taken in from rescue centres, socialised and trained by me, with help from the centre staff and I never witnessed any aggression or dangerous situations once settled. Banning the breed is the wrong way to go (I’m not talking about cross bred animals bred for aggression). My youngest daughter could take food from the mouth of my biggest mastiff (I named him Muzzy incidentally) and he would not bat an eyelid. He weighed 12st at his largest and was pure muscle. He was the sweetest, most gentle dog you could meet and was often found trying to sleep with the cats…

    Dogs

I think all dogs and cats should be spayed/neutered, licensed, tagged and insured. Owners should be fully responsible for their animals, it would probably help stop people breeding them in their kitchens and selling on facebook, reducing the need for rescue shelters and hopefully reduce overall numbers.

    Dogs

I doubt it because it’s not true. I’ve not come across a dangerous Pug 😂

    Dogs

That term (Brachycephalic) has nothing to do with lock jaws, or dangerous dogs. Staffies are amazing dogs and make brilliant family pets and most get on well with other dogs or cats. Those that don’t haven’t been socialised properly. I’ve owned Bull Mastiffs and staffies and they all lived together, with cats, chickens and my children and grandchildren.
  6. Was fortunate enough to visit when still Yugoslavia. Amazing people and one of the most beautiful countries I’ve seen. I also remember police checkpoints, actually very friendly but not averse to a little baksheesh, either a small amount of cash or something you might be carrying. Not been post war but definitely somewhere I would visit.

    Depression

Please take time out and seek intervention. I can’t throw all the MH cliches at you, I know you’ll have heard them many times before but please come back here to vent and not be alone. Sending you all the best.
  8. That was my point
  9. Surely a sign of how low we've sunk if people are clapping Cameron back into a cabinet post...
  10. Accidentally competent 😂
  11. There are none so blind as those who will not see
  12. I think it’s best to go our separate ways on this if you can equate the “plenty” of left wing antisemitism to the physical attacks and abuse we’ve witnessed from the right and you deem it worse. Have a good one 👍
  13. I’m not aware of anyone playing down those instances, in fact everyone I know is horrified. Who doesn’t believe? One thing to remember is that these attacks and antisemitism, in the UK and abroad are coming from the right wing and/or a small fringe of terrorists (let’s call them what they are) and need calling out by everyone, regardless of political leaning. Braverman and her ilk have emboldened these idiots, the likes of which we saw at the cenotaph yesterday. I think we all need to work harder in calling these idiots out equally, whether it’s antisemitism, Islamophobia, Homophobia or any other type of bigotry.
  14. Absolutely. The trouble causers are thankfully a minority, although more vocal than ever due to media attention. The extreme right wing are using current affairs to dress up their Islamophobia as support for Israel (in my opinion) and will return to their antisemitism at the drop of a hat. Creatures like Tommy Robinson love all of this division as it fills their coffers.
  15. I’m not on much social media so not sure what is being referenced but I’ve seen lots of examples of accusations of antisemitism when it’s clearly aimed at the Israeli government or the actions of settlers. Obviously, I abhor any kind of racism or abuse of Jews but I’m not seeing it from these demonstrations.
  16. It’s not antisemitic to criticise Israel.
  17. I think they were so under scrutiny they had no choice. It’s still a horrible corrupt organisation.
  18. Again, the term “antisemitism” has been hijacked by Israel and the right wing. If you are not pro Israeli government you are deemed antisemitic. The French left will never march with Le Pen whose own father, the founder of their party, has been convicted several times for hate speech including antisemitism. The left have been at the forefront of fighting antisemitism for years.
  19. Sadly hijacked by these morons a long time ago.
  20. Tommy and his EDL cronies have attended pro Israel marches and been very vocal regarding their support for the Israeli regime. You often see Israeli flags at their demonstrations too. They’re a proper confused bunch. Known for their anti-global (Jewish) rhetoric and antisemitic beliefs too. They’re not smart, that’s for sure
  21. I’m not really into “holidays” as such. I’ve done plenty over the years while the children were growing up but always had time away to walk or climb. My Wife used to come with me but she’d rather relax by a pool or beach, as did the children, even when they were older. I would love to walk a desert, trek across Mongolia or China but time is a limiting factor nowadays. That and my health. Personally, a cruise would be a nightmare holiday, so glad my wife isn’t interested either. Places I would revisit - Canada. Been once, Vancouver Island which is a beautiful place. Walked the West Coast Trail and climbed Mount Washington. Brazil. Spent a few months there in the 90’s, The Pantanal is one of the most amazing places on earth. Borneo. Wife left me in charge of honeymoon so I booked 2 weeks in Kota Kinabalu, left her at the hotel for two and a half days while I climbed Mount Kinabalu. I need the outdoors - birds, wildlife, Diving or Snorkelling etc for a successful holiday. The Earth is too vast to pick one dream holiday destination.
  22. Not a chance, did a bit of research when I bought the house, incredibly expensive and volatile (expense wise). Like oil, I’m sure there’s a cartel out there fixing prices… I went for heat pump and solar panels with supplementary log burners.
  23. We’re also in a remote area with no gas supply. Had oil boiler ripped out earlier this year as last winter was a nightmare, with prices rising disproportionately (on a daily basis) and unreliable deliveries. Also hate the smell of the horrible dirty stuff.
  24. Haha, I didn’t think I’d find anyone as enthusiastic as me about firewood. I moved into a new property last year with a 3 acre garden/woodland and set about clearing some neglected areas. I took down and logged more than 11 tonnes of hardwood, split and stacked for 12 months outdoors and just moved it all into a barn to have another 12 months. Already have 3 tonnes from previous house seasoned for 3 years which I’m using now. Not had the heat pump on at all yet.
  25. Well, that was sh*te 😂
