I know. I was responding to FoxyPV who suggested getting THC gummies from abroad.
-
I don’t really want the psychoactive effects of THC though. The science isn’t very firm for either type, the placebo effect is obviously a factor but if it helps, it helps I suppose.

Cheers. I've ordered some, sort of hoping for a miracle

My Daughter and Grandchildren love them. I’m a bit far away from you though (N. Wales) Good luck 🤞

@davieG I just wanted to say thanks for putting all of these posts up here. I don’t use any other social media so really appreciative. I moved away back in 1989 and don’t get back very often as most of my family have spread out across the UK and further afield. My dad is in his 80’s, lives in Switzerland now, but I send him these posts every week or so and we FaceTime to talk. He loves the nostalgia and memories. Cheers and thanks 👍 -
Does anyone here use CBD oil for pain management? I keep seeing references to it and met someone who swears by it but I’m a born sceptic… I found some online sellers but info is a bit vague. Looks expensive too. Don’t want to throw money at something that doesn’t work.

Like roasted vegetables for instance?

Forgive my ignorance but are these things just for convenience type foods?

Yes, Novara are like Marmite with the left wing.

I appreciate what you say in your last sentence but opinion is what I’m seeing all over this debate. I chose that link deliberately as it’s from a major American-Jewish publication, not a Hamas statement, not Aljazeera or other Palestinian sympathy group. Unfortunately, the western media are almost exclusively pro Israel so the Palestinian story is seldom held up to the light. Any criticism of the Israeli state is deemed antisemitic and the powers that be have used that to cloud the issue, which then reignites the awful atrocities that Jews have endured for centuries. Anyhow, I’m going back to read the Leeds thread, it’s marginally better for my mental health…

I’m not sure what you mean regarding the left not fighting for the most vulnerable in this country? I can’t think of any voluntary or charitable concerns in the UK that aren’t being led by the left (although they probably exist). It’s certainly been that way for pretty much all of my lifetime and I’ve been involved in a few over the years.

I think, as usual, there is a lot of misinformation regarding the river/sea rhetoric. Manipulation of meaning is a powerful media tool… This article gives some historical context - https://forward.com/opinion/415250/from-the-river-to-the-sea-doesnt-mean-what-you-think-it-means/

Sad but true ☹️

And who are these ‘far left’ I keep hearing about? Is there anyone on the far left anywhere near a government position? Even Corbyns manifesto wasn’t remotely ’far left’… I think the shift to the right has been so extreme that I would put Starmer firmly on the right.

You might need an antibiotic for your chest? Go see a doctor or it could go on for weeks. I hope you feel better soon 👍

I’ve been watching her all year. She seems to favour Blackbirds and the occasional Collared Dove, not so much small song birds (in my garden anyway)

Almost definitely a false black widow 👍

You won't come to any harm handling a carcass with insects on it. Just be sensible, wear gloves and wash hands afterwards. I would bag the carcass, take it to your nearest wasteground and discard into the bushes - let the wildlife sort it - they will be very grateful.

Lawn sand is probably quite desirable to bees, easy to tunnel into. I would imagine something compressed would be better. I agree with the eco aeration method though

I’m not sure I can give a definitive answer to this but I did hear of a similar thing which was treated at the end of the breeding cycle. If I recall, they started by mowing and brushing the lawn, then use some topsoil to sort of fill the holes, let it settle and tamp it down then repeat. Reseed and cross fingers. They may have used a weighted roller too. I can appreciate that you don’t want to destroy the bees but to deter for next season but a pest controller would probably use a poison of sorts. Bee keepers won’t have a clue as they only work with Honey Bees. You might be better off finding an environmentalist/bee forum that will advise. You could try Dave Goulson on social media (he’s my go to for anything bee related). 👍 for allowing them to survive so far.

It's mainly to cover Honey Bees which swarm as part of their reproduction cycle - they will quite often try to set up home in your porch, garage, loft or such like. They are also much greater in number (10's of thousands normally) and can get a bit stingy if provoked. Most other bees in the UK (Bumblebees, Mason Bees, Mining Bees etc.) are much less likely to sting, mostly go around doing their own thing without causing harm. I've had a Badger build a sett in my garden - digs up the turf, uproots plants and leaves pungent latrines in the borders. I don't want to poison, kill or maim it/them (three youngsters appeared in the spring). I'm not trying to be an arse about it, it's just that there must always be a way (humane) to deal with these things or we end up with a barren planet.
-
They're not pests. Any pest controller worth his salt will tell you to leave them alone as they are pretty harmless and will naturally decrease in numbers very soon.
-
Same rule applies. Why not introduce your kids to them, educate them by identifying the bees (almost definitely a mining bee) and explain their lifecycle etc. Show them that you can aproach and observe them without fear. I don't understand the constant fear and persecution of flying insects which are, on the whole, a huge benefit to us.
