  1. I presume you mean PIR. It definitely has a far better U value than polystyrene. I’m in the middle of a refurb and have insulated the interior of every external wall in the house. I’ve used 100mm studding, plasterboard and skim, with 100mm insulation where possible, using insulated plasterboard (37.5mm) when not possible to use the 100mm stud. It’s certainly not cheap but has made a massive difference in retaining heat. Decent double/triple glazed doors and windows are equally effective. Doesn’t stop the kids leaving the outside doors open though 😡

    Covers

And the original is brilliant 👍
  3. I do from router to the first one then wireless to the others. My walls are 600mm thick so I've had to move them around to get the best out of them but they are brilliant and so easy to set up and move around for best connection.
  4. If it’s the resistor, not too bad. Just hope it’s not the fan motor as lots of dismantling, although I’m not sure on the Octavia where the resistor is. Normally in the top of the footwell.
  5. It’ll probably be the resistor for the fan.
  6. The Palestine centre for prisoner studies information seems to be in line with what most aid agencies and human rights organisations quote. IPS itself is not the issue, it’s the source of the data, the only “official” data available and even that data confirms how bad the system is. It tends to differ somewhat from the data gathered by aid organisations etc. by underreporting or not reporting at all (IDF figures) The numbers, although atrocious, are not the only issue. The horrendous treatment administered by the military or prison officers are a major concern. They have arrested an additional 3,260 Palestinians, including 120 women and more than 200 children, since 7 October.
  7. I think it’s worth putting this article here too. During 2022, the Palestine Centre for Prisoner Studies, a Palestinian rights group, documented the arrest of more than 850 children by the Israeli occupation forces, including 45 under the age of 12. Among the detainees were several children who were wounded by soldiers’ bullets before their arrest, all of whom were subjected to deliberate medical neglect. The centre explains that the majority of detained children were subjected to one or more forms of humiliation and physical and psychological torture, through a number of tools and systematic methods that violate international norms and conventions on children’s rights. These violations actually start from the moment of arrest, and continue during the investigation period and detention. According to the centre, the Israeli occupation forces arrested more than 10 children during 2022 after they were shot and wounded, some of them seriously. The wounded boys were often "left to bleed" before they were taken for treatment. The rights group added that they were subjected to inhumane investigations and interrogations inside hospitals, and some of them were transferred to interrogation centres after a short period of time, before they completed their recovery. Remember, this is BEFORE 7th Oct…
  8. I’ve no problem with the website, the figures quoted are all they have to go on but are automatically flawed when they are given by the very same people who are committing the crimes being reported by human rights groups. The sheer numbers of children being detained is horrendous but when you see the abuse they’ve endured during their detention it’s mind blowing. “A 2013 report by the United Nations Children's Fund (Unicef) concluded that maltreatment of Palestinian child detainees in Israeli military detention was “widespread, systematic, and institutionalised throughout the process” Research by Save the Children published in July found that Palestinian minors in Israeli detention endure physical, emotional and sexual abuse. Some 86 percent said they had been beaten, 69 percent strip-searched and nearly half of them injured at the point of arrest, some of them incurring gunshot wounds and broken bones. According to research by DCIP,based on testimonies from 766 children detained by the Israeli army between 1 January 2016 and 31 December 2022, 59 percent were arrested at night, with 97 percent reporting having their hands bound, and 86 percent blindfolded. Children reported being interrogated at unknown locations without the presence of a parent or a lawyer, and often deprived of food and water. They often gave confessions while enduring verbal abuse, threats, physical and psychological violence.” We need to remember that these are oppressed children living under an illegal occupation and have never experienced anything else.
  9. “The following figures were provided or published by the military and the IPS, so responsibility for their accuracy lies with them.”
  10. I’m using three TP-Link Deco XE75 Pro units, as access points though. They’re dead easy to set up and use with the app.
  11. I’m getting mega fast speeds, hardly any loss through the cable/access points. I’m currently rebuilding the house and just put in for planning for 2 barns to be converted so I’m putting in fibre optic for future proofing so I can have a network over the whole place.

    New TV

Most tvs sound rubbish on their own, I use Sonos soundbar, sub woofer and two speakers for my tv and music but it’s a few years old now. If it’s just for tv, maybe see what it sounds like before deciding, although a decent soundbar will always sound better. edit- misread, you already have a soundbar, if it’s compatible I would try it out before shelling out for a new one, they’re not that cheap.
  13. Is it possible to use a wired connection between access points and WiFi from them? I have 1gig connection to my router, ethernet cable to 3 different access points around the house and use them for WiFi except main tv which is connected directly to one of the access points via ethernet. If you can’t use Ethernet, just use the access points as WiFi extenders. My house has walls 600mm thick so I opted for cable as I’m currently working on it anyway.
  14. I don’t think anyone is advocating ‘absolute’ equality.
  15. Of course. I was referring to me specifically 👍.
  16. I agree, tax avoidance is aso a big problem. Not even worth a debate, sorry.
  17. Sorry, I didn't realise it was a race to the bottom... The report is focusing on equality and of course it's relative otherwise we start comparing the seventies to the twenties...
  18. Strange reply… The report wasn’t undertaken by the Guardian. Maybe the Equality Trust are left wing too 🤷‍♂️
  19. https://www.desmog.com/2023/11/23/revealed-scale-of-the-telegraphs-climate-change-propaganda/ The power of the media is frightening. Edit: I should mention Tufton St is a driving force behind this.

  21. No, not above board. I don’t want to share details on a public forum but there are many resellers, sometimes advertising on eBay but if you google iptv subscription you’ll find a few. Safer still if you know someone who can recommend one.
  22. Streams are too hit and miss. Firestick with smart tv and a 12m sub to iptv Is the best way at least for the moment. Heard a rumour that Amazon are changing the firestick to something Linux based next year.
  23. What kind of links? Streams? Iptv subs?
  24. The Israelis have several thousand Palestinian prisoners, lots of women and children, held inside their prisons, often in solitary and not allowed visitors, without fair trial (sometimes no trial) under spurious arrest circumstances. Some spend years inside for peaceful protest or social media content, others for throwing stones at tanks… The Palestinians are in a woeful state at the moment, generations of refugees moved from camps (where they’ve been living for years) without consistent access to food, water, basic sanitation, energy or medical supplies. Thousands killed and injuries probably the hundreds of thousands. Amputations and other surgery without anaesthetic. The IDF, yesterday, had snipers at the entrance to Gaza shooting civilians in the legs as they tried to enter to find dead/injured relatives or food supplies during the “pause” in fighting. The Israeli government death machine is creating another generation of hate and whatever replaces Hamas (it definitely will be replaced) might be worse. I think that Israel thinks if it doesn’t destroy the monster they created there will never be peace in the region.
  25. Just the various sites showing the game, sometimes that includes the foxes hub coverage. You won’t find Foxes Hub anywhere else I don’t think.
