Summer 26 Transfer rumours 'X' and other Weak Links
CloudFox replied to davieG's topic in Transfer Talk
One in, one out is all well and good, but we need another striker In...but no strikers left to go Out 🤨 -
To be fair, there are a lot here. Guess I'm going to be working from coffee shops for the foreseeable 👀

So really how much are we worth? - Does Charlie Meffin know?
CloudFox replied to justfoxes's topic in Leicester City Forum
Hey, I also don't agree with the valuation, but what I was trying to articulate was that I can understand why Wrexham would be valued much higher at this moment in time. All those things you mention are absolutely valid and valuable to us as fans. But they are not going to be any more than window dressing to a prospective investor or owner. They might see the story, the potential, but there is no divine right for us to be in the upper echelons of English football because of our recent success. And we know throwing money at it doesn't equal success. Plenty of sides have fallen out of the top division and not recovered. Sheffield Wednesday are an example of that. And we are far closer to administration (like Wednesday) than a club like Wrexham are. That takes a huge toll on the valuation. -

I never said they did, or that that matters. I said the Wrexham owners have built a huge brand with commercial value—mainly driven by insane US sponsorship like United Airlines and now Firefox—and that increases their club's valuation because potential investors would see that as indicative of a strong commercial element of the business. They would believe they can make money out of it, or at least create revenue streams. Like it or not, we the fans are the only ones that actually care about our history in terms of our "value". It's window dressing on our valuation for investors. It shouldn't be, but the club were ****ing appalling at capitalising on it, as we all know. Now it's just history to a lot of people, sadly. -

Wrexham isn't a good comparison. Regardless of history and "size", they have created a huge, global brand, particularly visible in the States. They have a TV show and huge commercial value, as evidenced by the type of sponsorship deals they've managed to make. Wrexham are a completely different beast. We'd have to look at a Sheffield Wednesday or the like for a similar valuation nowadays anyway, I think. -
I really like Carr and would love to see him smash it this season, but 50 games is a lot to ask in his first proper pro season. I'd like to have someone else more developed for him to challenge instead.

Things only a Leicester fan could say 😁

I reckon just double down and get his name on the back of your shirt. All in.

I get that we want everyone to get a run out, but I am confused as to the split in squad for yesterday's matches. Surely that team yesterday wasn't the true first choice...? Injuries to Chaplin and Alves won't have helped that I guess, but I also fail to understand why you would ever play BDCR as a striker in your final pre-season game. Especially with Otchere in good form. -

Which is one way Martin likes teams to play too, right? One side drifting in. So could be Alves drifting in from the right, Watson stretching play on the left. -
But he still hasn't gone . At the time I would have put it down to the World Cup being on, but he finished his role there relatively early, and it hasn't stopped others at the World Cup getting moves. Until Sheffield United match our valuation I can't see him going. We've sold a number now that we might be able to hang on to him for a season.
-
He's an alright enough keeper, and as second/third choice, then fine. But why are we signing back ups when we need first teamers? We don't desperately need another back up goalkeeper.

Conor Chaplin (signed, official)

3 years makes me a bit uncomfortable right now...but if we shift BDCR then I'll feel more okay with it. Sounds like a model pro and has performed at L1 level before, so fingers crossed he can find that form again. -
He was an 8, along with Page. Both dropped deep and were picking up the ball then progressing it forwards. Alves the more proactive of the two, felt like he knitted our attacks together really well, and rewarded with two nice goals. I think he operates really well in those sort of half spaces, kind of box-to-box but mainly attacking/creating.
-
This 11 definitely isn't of the same quality as the first half. Wilson-Brown, Skipp, and Braybrooke doing okay. Don't think we've seen enough of Evans to judge.
-
What on earth is going on with this commentary team. Constantly mispronouncing Faes and Stolarcyzk's names...claiming BDCR is 25?!
-
Good exercise so far. Love seeing Alves in full flow. Think they've tightened up on him since his second goal, which is understandable! Okoli scares the heck out of me on the ball, but everyone seems to have tightened up the sloppy passes since the hydration break.
-
What did he come on?? That's a yellow, surely
-
He's dogsitting while Vestergaard is locked in talks with Rudkin to cancel his contract. Only one of them comes out of the room with a contract...
-
-
Winks and Kristiansen both strongly linked with moves away, which is great news, and makes sense they wouldn't be included. It's a surprise Golding isn't in at all considering I think Alves said he looked good in training for one of those snapshot interviews. S Thomas must be off...which I'm fine with tbh. He might be good in L1 but if we can make some cash off him then okay. Vestergaard in discussions with having his contract terminated, so again, makes sense he's not included. Don't think he's even been in training with us?
-
Riley Carr. Think he's mainly a winger? Quite highly rated from what I recall.
-
Ghana fans on social media going in on him, hard. They were before the tournament too to be fair, so not just us that can't stand him playing for our team.

Would love to know how much we got for him. -

Well, good for him to get out of this mess. Really weird move from us though. He's gone to a club who finished 4th in League One last season, I think? So effectively "strengthening" our rivals if he ends up any good.
