Bristol fox .... Posted 17 April 2015 Posted 17 April 2015 If boro fail in there promotion bid and were successful in staying in the prem then id like pearson to try and get george friend who in my opinion has to be the best left back in the championship.
Grewks Posted 17 April 2015 Posted 17 April 2015 Doesn't seem good enough for what we would be looking for. Steady, solid....but doesn't look to have the quality going forward needed in the prem. Rather we teach jeff the defensive side of the game, has the pace and attacking ability of a modern full back, decent in the air etc.....He's like a left back version of clyne.

STEADY, SOLID 2 qualities weve been lacking this season !!!!!
Grewks Posted 17 April 2015 Posted 17 April 2015 STEADY, SOLID 2 qualities weve been lacking this season !!!!! Konchesky, in a back four as a left back has been exceptionally steady and solid. But in this league, the fact Jeff is being selected ahead of him when we are desperate for results, shows that we need more than steady and solid. In this league the better full backs, on the whole, are young and energetic.

Grewks Posted 17 April 2015 Posted 17 April 2015 He's been better defensively than Schlupp but he's been far from exceptionally steady and solid No. His main strengths are his solidity as a defensive full back. You can question his ability on the ball and his ability going forward, but he has been solid defensively.
theessexfox Posted 17 April 2015 Posted 17 April 2015 He is a lot younger than Konch though, always seemed a decent fullback when I've seen him.
Grewks Posted 17 April 2015 Posted 17 April 2015 He is a lot younger than Konch though, always seemed a decent fullback when I've seen him. But that is all he is, a younger konch. The modern full back is all about athleticism, like I said earlier friend is solid and that's about it. Ben Gibson on the other hand, I imagine NP might be having a look.
FoxInTheBirstallBox Posted 17 April 2015 Posted 17 April 2015 Maybe a bit soon, but dont forget we have Barmby in the youthsquad, they keep playing him at left back and left wing much alike schlupp so maybe thats the plan
Dan Posted 18 April 2015 Posted 18 April 2015 Teaching someone who has a tendency to completely switch off how to play the left back role is going to be a monumental task. Schlupp is a good full-back in terms of attacking but defensively he's by a mile the worst one in the Premier League.

Fox92 Posted 18 April 2015 Posted 18 April 2015 Been impressed with Friend whenever I've seen him this season too.
ozleicester Posted 18 April 2015 Posted 18 April 2015 i would prefer that should we survive, we ONLY buy players with premiership experience and success
