Manwell Pablo Posted 16 May 2015 Posted 16 May 2015 Does the "mess we were in" Really matter at all in the slightest. It's where you are after 38 games, we've got a great chance of 14th, that's a very solid season for me no matter which way you look at it. And the I think the I told you so's are for the benefit of those who wanted the manager, who is pretty much undeniably the only bloke who could of got that team playing like that post January, coming up with the goods when doubted, out on his ear.
shen Posted 16 May 2015 Posted 16 May 2015 We got 19 points from 72. It was abysmal. Nigel was extremely lucky to survive. Hindsight is wonderful thing, but the criticsm was entirely justified at the time. Let's move on and look to next season instead of gloating. We also got 19 points from 24. Champions League form. We're going to finish with 38-41 points and be safe before the final game. I do not think anyone wouldn't have taken that at the start of the season! It's easy to highlight our abysmal form because it was a long dry spell, but my word did we start the season brilliantly, and we finished it even better! The team has written history with this run and we've had a roller coaster of emotions this season which has ended with a thrill.... apart from this poster below: ... I don't us staying up proves anything about Pearson. We have had the squad that should never have been relegated. Personally, although Pearson takes credit overall for building the team over the years, I think he's done a poor job this season. Away from home especially his negative tactics have really cost us. Neither away game in the last 8 matches has proved he's learnt his lesson about the way we need to play (considering how dominant we were in the other matches at home in the run) and we need to have a manager who knows our strengths and sticks to those principles which have served us well. I don't think that's Pearson. So, smug? I don't think that's warranted. Let's just be pleased we're still in the league, that doesn't make Pearson a genius. Thankfully, we at least had a go at home because we absolutely needed to. ... He must've gotten some barf over him from the bloke in front when the rollercoaster ride started. Nothing else can explain this level of utter misery.

I agree with you pab but it's not 38 games yet
lgfualol Posted 16 May 2015 Posted 16 May 2015 Someone give me a list of pundits that wrote us off so I can laugh at their ****ing faces. Was it Carragher that wondered why we were celebrating a win against West Ham? Get the pitchforks.
