Very tenuous links to players who played against Leicester

I've came across Luke Varney and Chris Kirkland. The former on a night out in Leicester and the latter when he came to meet some amateurs at a local football training session. Clocked Michael Morrison from a distance whilst out in Leicester but never spoke to him. Off topic I know but when I was a wee nipper I bumped into John Parrott and got sent flying according to my dad. He apologised of course.

In the 1970s, my grandparents lived next door but one to Bill Dearden, then a player for Sheffield Utd. He will have played against LCFC - and may even have managed against them in the cup more recently (Port Vale, Mansfield etc.).

A few years ago, I chanced to go to a Mansfield match with some mates when Dearden was manager. They were beaten 0-4 at home by Rochdale and Dearden was sacked after the match.

In the 1980s, some dry cleaners delivered Nigel Clough's wedding suit to my mate's house the day before Clough's wedding (not sure why, but it was prearranged and not a mistake).

That same mate was in Lens for the 1998 France World Cup and got talking to Marc-Vivien Foe (Cameroon international then playing for Lens) in a bar. 5 years later, Foe died on the pitch....but almost certainly played against LCFC for West Ham or Man City before doing so.

In 1978, I served a 1-hour school detention mending chairs with future Folkestone Town star Andy Allon. Ten years later, I was there in a 2000+ crowd at The Crabble, Dover, when Andy Allon scored a delicious chip to win an FA Cup 3rd Qualifying Round match for Folkestone Town against "bigger" local rivals Dover. Allon swung ecstatically from the Dover crossbar and hundreds of Folkestone fans entered a state of delirium. If they had reached the 3rd Round Proper, Allon and Folkestone might have been drawn to play against LCFC, but regrettably they lost at home to Gloucester City in the final qualifying round and went bust the following year....thereby eventually allowing me to become an LCFC fan.

Jock Wallace purchased a property in Spain the period when my Grandfather purchased one in the same area of the country - knew each other well and apparently Wallace was a bit of a 'lad' when he had a few drinks...

Sat in the sauna chatting with Neil Lennon at David Lloyd gym Meridian on a wet Wednesday afternoon in the mid 90's once. We're the same age and both have ginger hair. Could have been brothers. Just saying...
