thpike Posted 6 July 2015 Posted 6 July 2015 Anyone watching the tour? It gets coverage here in the States. Great view of France/Belgium also. Edit: Thanks Steven
Steven Posted 6 July 2015 Posted 6 July 2015 Anyone watching the tour? It gets coverage here in the States. Great view of France also. Yes but they are in Belgium today.
thpike Posted 6 July 2015 Author Posted 6 July 2015 I read the wrong one for today! Thank you! I'm not able to watch at work so I just can see the feed update. 2 years ago when my wife and I were on vacation, I was proposing, I was obsessed with watching, after she said yes of course. I live in a very bike friendly area and hopefully I can try out some long distance cycling.
Renart Posted 6 July 2015 Posted 6 July 2015 Yep. It has been a dramatic start to Le Tour this year: big crash today (Cancellara went down but is still going), and cobbled stage tomorrow. 17.9km to go today. Mur de Huy will be an exciting finish (19%)! Switch it on.
ramboacdc Posted 6 July 2015 Posted 6 July 2015 wasn't it Holland into Belgium today? stuck £20 on froome before the tour started and he has helped himself to a 2nd place today and the yellow jersey (all be it 1 second but still) come on team sky!
thpike Posted 6 July 2015 Author Posted 6 July 2015 I'm a fan of Sagan, but I follow a few of the Sky riders on instagram. It might have been, I didn't get a chance to turn it on this morning when I woke up and just checked it online.
ChrisWoodIsClass Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 Just follow the british riders, Love the tour de france tbh
CosbehFox Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 Impressive by Froome yesterday managing to kick on against Cotador up the climb. Interesting stage today.
EastAnglianFox Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 Froome on the cobbles with rain likely, scares me a little.
ramboacdc Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 cancerlla confirms he has broke 2 vertebrates in his back..and he still managed to do the last 40km! he's out of the tour. stage starts in 10 minutes. froome will just sit behind his nearest rival all tour now until the mountains.
Freesolo Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 Froome looks in good shape well at least he did on that punchy little climb yesterday, I Think that getting the yellow jersey so soon is not always a good thing because you have to defend it all the time. Today's stage is going to be dangerous its flat as a pancake but froome is not a good rider on the cobbles and will need his team today, fingers crossed nothing go's wrong. My pick for the win is Peter Sagan
Freesolo Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 Geraint Thomas as good as anyone today. Def got a shot has had some good results in the classics but I'm not sure what his job will be today they might have him protecting froome? He would be the perfect wheel for froome to sit on.
thpike Posted 7 July 2015 Author Posted 7 July 2015 Upgraded my phone yesterday to a iPhone 6 so now I'm able to watch the race at work. NBCSN is the greatest thing ever... allows me to watch all LCFC BPL matches and I get to watch some great sports events.
Freesolo Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 Great move by Tony Martin for the win, soloing from 3km is unheard of but he is a phenomenal TT rider
thpike Posted 8 July 2015 Author Posted 8 July 2015 I actually got to watch that. It was very exciting. Once my work gets going here I'll probably put it back on my phone. Great coverage.
shen Posted 8 July 2015 Posted 8 July 2015 Great move by Tony Martin for the win, soloing from 3km is unheard of but he is a phenomenal TT rider It's not really unheard of. Jens Voigt and Cancellara have done it several times before...
Freesolo Posted 8 July 2015 Posted 8 July 2015 It's not really unheard of. Jens Voigt and Cancellara have done it several times before... Yes riders with big engines, there are only a handful of riders that could pull that off and not with such a big pack chasing, but i guess Cav was ****ed and froome is glad to see the back of the yellow Jersey for now
Freesolo Posted 8 July 2015 Posted 8 July 2015 I miss HTC Cav. I fear he has passed his prime mate, still a great sprinter but he just does not look anything like the old Cav that was destroying everyone 3 to 4 years ago , his fearless attitude means he has taken a lot of falls and picked up injuries that can wear you down quicker. apart from that but whats changed? He still has a great team around him with Renshaw back and riders like Tony Martin who can do huge turns on the front? I don't know how many watts he is putting out in his sprints maybe he hasn't dropped in form and other riders have just got better than him, I was really hoping this was going to be a great tour for him with with Kittel out of the picture, I would love to see him break Eddy Merckx's record for most stage wins in The Tour of France but so far we are yet to see any fireworks.
CosbehFox Posted 8 July 2015 Posted 8 July 2015 Yeh Cav doesn't like he has got that spark any more. Today was one of the few occasions I audibly cheered him to do it. I used to be so confident that he could beat anyone in a sprint. Now particularly after the occasion where he caused that crash, he doesn't appear to have the killer instinct
EastAnglianFox Posted 8 July 2015 Posted 8 July 2015 If Kittel is back next year and injury free I fear Cav may only have a couple of wins left in him, still fancy he can get the better of Griepel on a good day but the explosion and spark do seem to be missing. Will never forget his finish down the Champs a few years ago when the camera was showing a view side on of the cycles down at wheel height for the final sprint and Cav was nowhere to be seen, all of a sudden an absolute missile appears at the far side and makes the others look like they were pedaling backwards..unbelievable power he had back then

Amin Posted 9 July 2015 Posted 9 July 2015 I'm not sure what Martin was doing there. He just dived to the right.

Having said that, the overhead camera view of Greipel and Sagan in particular was almost as frightening
