Rincewind Posted 18 July 2015 Posted 18 July 2015 I wonder if players would more inclined to sign for Ranieri than Pearson? I am thinking about the higher profile players. Perhaps that is what the owners were thinking too. Nothing wrong with Pearson but maybe he may put players off at times. Saying that he did the groundwork leaving Claudio to finish the job. Sounds a good strategy by the owners to me.
katieakita Posted 18 July 2015 Posted 18 July 2015 Come the time the sunday papers are landing on the mat we will be linked with every man and his dog. We are in a better shape than we were squad wise than this time last year and am certain the club have plans in place to strengthen further.
LCFCSOULBOY Posted 18 July 2015 Posted 18 July 2015 We've got the German and the Austrian already. The Austrian definitely adds to the squad because imo he'll be a step up from the Ghanaian, and we know how important the German was last season. In midfield it'll be good if the Argentinean signs but the Italian will surely sign some younger midfielders anyway. The Welsh and English current players don't seem strong enough to me by a distance especially with the one English chap injured. Just brilliant. Still laughing Shame the French guy left. The Italian might have given him another chance. But let's be honest the Albanian is the much better player.

CosbehFox Posted 19 July 2015 Posted 19 July 2015 We had signed 4 players by this time last year. Personally would have liked to have seen a cm come in and have some bedding in time with the friendlies. Be difficult for any player signed this week onwards to be comfortable playing opening day with new team-mates (exceptational players withstanding).

CosbehFox Posted 19 July 2015 Posted 19 July 2015 Albrighton,Ulloa,Upson & Hamer?? Yeh three of which were 1st July due to be signed as a free.
foxfan92 Posted 19 July 2015 Posted 19 July 2015 Ranieri talked about keeping 3 at the back and playing either 2 or 3 in midfield. At the moment we've only just got enough fit midfielders to field 3 in midfield - I doubt the club has missed the need to strengthen in this area as a priority. As a club we don't want to broadcast our targets to the world before anything is set in stone. That might frustrate us fans who are excited at the idea of signing quality players - but it's a necessary evil for the club in order to get the players in the first place. Things appear quiet with the N'golo saga but for all we know we've someone with his agent now sorting out the fine details.... Cambiasso's future remains unclear but he's not signed elsewhere yet ... We've been linked to a host of other midfielders some to buy some to loan -but in truth who knows who we're really targeting. But one thing I am certain of is the club are targeting players to strengthen the team - and while Cambiasso was a very important component of the great escape he wasn't the only player we had on the pitch during those games and if the core of the team that remains can play like they did then and that mentality transfers to our new signings too then we have a bright future ahead of ourselves.

CosbehFox Posted 19 July 2015 Posted 19 July 2015 It's not difficult at all It is particularly in a position where you build a partnership.
city187 Posted 19 July 2015 Posted 19 July 2015 Didn't think delph was leaving villa? Didn't he turn man city down to stay at villa. Still plenty of time for players to sign. I liked pearson but since he has gone the amount of negativity is funny. Most fans seem to not only have glass half empty but they have spilt the ****er and smashed the glass against the wall crying
