Mark_from_USA Posted 18 July 2015 Posted 18 July 2015 Okazaki was listed as an attacking midfielder with Mainz. I think we might see formations with him behind and 2 strikers, meaning the midfield may not be as thin as we think. I for one am hoping for some stability. With Pearson one was always wondering what would the next headline be. Too many times it took the focus off football, which I suppose is ok if you are rock bottom. I'd rather just not be bottom.
weller54 Posted 18 July 2015 Posted 18 July 2015 FFS get the **** over Pearson Should be easy enough if you just think about the first 29 games of last season!!
lgfualol Posted 18 July 2015 Posted 18 July 2015 If Cambiasso signs up then I think we are much more ahead than last year, better team, still got the same backroom staff and everyone seems happy. I liked Pearson a lot but have moved on. I rate Ranieri quite a bit and think we will have a good season. His experience and knowledge is brilliant and I suspect we'll be a much harder team to break down next season. Last season at times, you had the likes of Downing cutting our defence and midfield apart with one pass.
foxfanazer Posted 18 July 2015 Posted 18 July 2015 Should be easy enough if you just think about the first 29 games of last season!!Yeah lets forget beating United 5-3 and the rest of his time here
sly1 Posted 18 July 2015 Posted 18 July 2015 Let's move all move on better times not to far away c, mon city.
Frank to be Posted 18 July 2015 Posted 18 July 2015 We've got the German and the Austrian already. The Austrian definitely adds to the squad because imo he'll be a step up from the Ghanaian, and we know how important the German was last season. In midfield it'll be good if the Argentinean signs but the Italian will surely sign some younger midfielders anyway. The Welsh and English current players don't seem strong enough to me by a distance especially with the one English chap injured. Shame the French guy left. The Italian might have given him another chance. But let's be honest the Albanian is the much better player.

Frank to be Posted 18 July 2015 Posted 18 July 2015 Thought Mahrez was the Algerian? Oops I knew that didn't feel right
Haydos Posted 18 July 2015 Posted 18 July 2015 Is he signing staying or not simples. . Is English your first language?
General Smuts Posted 18 July 2015 Posted 18 July 2015 Not any real need to panic so far. My only frustration is that our 3 fit central midfielders have a combined top league experience of about 40 games with the majority of those being off the bench, We still don't have a midfield enforcer and haven't improved significantly at centre back - though re-signing Huth was a great step forward. I would say that the teams we would be aspiring to emulate - Stoke, Swansea, Southampton, even Newcastle - have signed and have been linked with some real talent. Southampton is obviously a different kettle of fish with the amount of money they have to re-invest and the players they've (again) lost. Will be interesting to see what Aston Villa spend their money on and the type of players they can attract. We are realistically 3 players shy of being a mid table team - the issue is that those 3 positions are key. If this weekend we see Kante and Cambiasso come in and we get heavily linked with a centre back everything changes.
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 18 July 2015 Posted 18 July 2015 Should be easy enough if you just think about the first 29 games of last season!! I like Pearson actually, his legacy is more than 29 games
NewburyFox Posted 18 July 2015 Posted 18 July 2015 I must admit that with 21 days to go until the start of the season, I'm a little concerned that we currently have King and Drinkwater as our midfield pairing with Hammond in reserve. Cambiasso is hanging in the balance, Kante clearly isn't that keen on joining us and the season is almost upon us. That said I'm sure we're working as hard as we can to remedy it, it's the most obvious position to strengthen and I have faith in the club's transfer system that we will get things done in time.

MattyFromLE Posted 18 July 2015 Posted 18 July 2015 Got to remember that the players have now all ( mostly ) had a season in the Premiership. Lessons will have been learnt from last season. I can see why some are concerned, I think we'll see some new faces next week.
NewburyFox Posted 18 July 2015 Posted 18 July 2015 we started last season with king and drinkwater and hammond. got a 2-2 draw, and had a great first few games. im not worried at all. we have good depth That's true but we were playing on adrenaline and a ridiculously high tempo then, what with it being our first PL games in 14 years. I'm not sure it will be the same this time round. We could really do with Danny finding his balls again after leaving them in the Championship. He has the ability, just not sure he has the mentality to make it at this level.
6ups 6downs 2 cups Posted 18 July 2015 Posted 18 July 2015 Midfield is the key area, looks a little shallow at the moment. If we could add 2 more midfielders I'd say we'd be well set for a decent season. Defence I think we are a OK, up front pretty decent.
Vicki Vixen Posted 18 July 2015 Posted 18 July 2015 WTF - pointing out the guy is Japanese and I maybe racist or disrespectful? Christ, unbelievable. You just couldn't make it up. Been up early, probably missed the joke I guess it was more your suggestion he might have been bought to help us get more Asian fans, rather than based in his ability. Did you also ask the same question when we signed Sean StLedger, Chis Wood or any other non-British player?

Did you also ask the same question when we signed Sean StLedger, Chis Wood or any other non-British player? No I didn't, but bringing in Sean St Ledger or Chris Wood didn't help us tap into the highly desirable market over there. We have a Thai Academy to help boost our fanbase in Thailand and there is more than a rumour that this signing, along with Yuki Abe was to try and stretch out fanbase. Many have wondered whether the Japanese signing was a Pearson signing or an Owners signing to help increase our awareness in other parts of the world
volpeazzurro Posted 18 July 2015 Posted 18 July 2015 Firstly , surely it would be logical for the new manager to look and decide what he wants and as he's only just got here what should we expect, a bit of panic buying just because a few supporters want to see a few million pounds spent ? I'm glad some of the people on here aren't in charge of my finances. Guess what , I reckon the vastly experienced Mr Ranieri might have even worked out himself he may be a little light in midfield. He may also have his own preferences who to sign. Secondly, whichever transfer window it is , many transfers year on year on year only happen towards the deadline as clubs, if not desparate to sell try to get top dollar for their business asset which is what a player is. There are probably even a few other names in the fire we haven't even heard of. I suggest that the club are in a lot better position than us to know what's available to try and match their needs.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 18 July 2015 Posted 18 July 2015 My God, I can't believe that some people are already panicking about getting players in. Pearson did feck all, before the start of next season, and I can't envisage Ranieri being that stupid.
Donut Posted 18 July 2015 Posted 18 July 2015 Normally have a balanced view of proceedings, but a little concerned for next season at the moment. Gutted we have lost our rock in Nigel Pearson. He knew us and knew what needed to be done. Only three weeks to go and no Cambiasso, who lets face it was the main reason we stayed up. A key influence and pulled all the strings. Is the Japanese guy a baller, or is he a purchase to woo the fans in Asia? Knockaert gone, not a big loss based on last seasons performances, but a crowd pleaser everyone wanted to see. Concerned at the moment, just like Villa fans should be losing their two key players in Delph and Benteke with weeks to go. If Cambiasso does not sign, which is looking less likely, going into the season without him and Pearson is a real concern. Looking at where we were and where we are, we are certainly behind where we were at the end of last season, and it was only the last seven performances or so that kept us up. Great post. Not.

TrentFox Posted 18 July 2015 Posted 18 July 2015 Yes, I know it's pedantic, but isn't it a 'wiggle' rather than a wriggle?
