Need to get a wriggle on

Normally have a balanced view of proceedings, but a little concerned for next season at the moment.

Gutted we have lost our rock in Nigel Pearson. He knew us and knew what needed to be done.

Only three weeks to go and no Cambiasso, who lets face it was the main reason we stayed up. A key influence and pulled all the strings.

Is the Japanese guy a baller, or is he a purchase to woo the fans in Asia?

Knockaert gone, not a big loss based on last seasons performances, but a crowd pleaser everyone wanted to see.

Concerned at the moment, just like Villa fans should be losing their two key players in Delph and Benteke with weeks to go.

If Cambiasso does not sign, which is looking less likely, going into the season without him and Pearson is a real concern.

Looking at where we were and where we are, we are certainly behind where we were at the end of last season, and it was only the last seven performances or so that kept us up.

I've just read your post to my 11 year old son who's a season ticket holder like myself. I asked him for his opinion, his reaction was, you've just about said it all. Everybody who knows me hear in Devon asked the same question. "What is happening to our football club???? Never any answers to questions and no information given.

I need to get out of bed that's what I know.

It would be nice if we made a couple of signings that aren't Cambiasso.

City fans need to stop jizzing about him too.

Don't agree with a lot of this.

Firstly, Cambiasso IMO wasn't the MAIN reason we stayed up. He was one of the reasons. For me, the main reasons were getting the formation right and Robert Huth getting fit.

Secondly...We've retained our squad and added to it. We've got the left back, another striker and are still linked with other players.

Thirdly, I don't think we have big injuries except to James (which IS a blow).

But all the others look like they are back and getting fit.

Fourthly, Ranieri has stated he won't be changing much, tactically. We'll see whether that happens but that's what he's said.

Fifth... the transfer window is open. ..anything could happen re signings. We know the club doesn't give much away when doing business of any kind.

Have hope that we are looking pretty settled at present. Yes Nige has left but that's happened. .It won't change.

I've got a good feeling about us at present and let's face it, we could be Villa!

I don't see the need for panic, we are still in talks with Cambiasso and other midfield options, and we do probably need to sign 2 midfielders with James out injured. Other than that I would be happy to start the season with the squad we have.

Of course we can still improve but I don't see any need for concern with the new season still a good few weeks away and transfer deadline day even further away.

I think we are 3 or 4 players away from being ideally ready for the new season (2 centre mids, Cb and a winger)

We do need to get this sorted and maybe not give players too long in deciding whether they want to sign for us. The new season will be here before we know it!

Wingers depend on what formation we'll be playing

This be fair we haven't LOST key players albeit Cambo who hasn't re-signed.

I'd be more worried if we DID lose players like Vardy,Ulloa,James etc...

We signed Huth too.Think as City fans we are always quick to draw on negative aspects

Sigh. It's 2 weeks since the transfer window begun.

We have a manager, the bulk of the squad is sorted. We need the Cambi signing to be announced and 1 or 2 midfielders.

That's it. What exactly are you whining about?

Agreed ... sums me up also.....Since the 30 odd years I have been supporting the club cant think of a new City manager where the first few games is of such an importance.....

We've actually made more signings than most, 2 more midfielders and we will be done, people need to stop panicking you do it every year.

Pearson is no loss! The 'Japanese guy', disrespectful or maybe racist!Knockaert, you're struggling with that one.Cambiasso could still sign.

Don't panic, don't panic Mr Mainwaring.

Raneri has said he does not want to tinker too much. He may have an idea of who he wants to add. With some training and a couple of pre-season games he'll have a better idea in the same way other clubs will know who they can sell

WTF - pointing out the guy is Japanese and I maybe racist or disrespectful? Christ, unbelievable. You just couldn't make it up.

Been up early, probably missed the joke

I agree with this.  Since he came in the defence looked a lot more solid and organised, it took the pressure off of Wes who then raised his game 10 fold and stopped making stupid mistakes that cost us points.

As much as I liked Pearson I think the players were playing for the club more than the manager.  I'm sure a lot of the players will be glad that he's gone as it will give them a chance.

I hope Cambiasso joins again but if he doesn't then it's his loss, he'll be missing out on being a part of the clubs rise.

Regarding Okazaki, he's not just a signing for Asia he's an improvement on the strikers that we have, strengthen from the front.

They've been in Austria so we were never going to sign anyone last week.

This week could be key for us, think there will be plenty of movement in terms of incomings & outgoings.

We need to get right in there with our midfield targets, & do everything we can to get them over the line. As for Cambiasso quite frankly we can't afford to piss about again, he was a calming influence but I was looking at his stats last night, compared to King & James especially his passing & tackling last season was pretty woeful, his major factors were intercepting the ball & creating chances. If we are looking for midfielders to replace him, you need a driving force who is capable of creating chances & hopefully a player who passes better, Cambiasso at times was too adventurous in his passing. While we could do with upgrading on Drinkwater, lacked physical presence last season.
