Guest Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 You're right, your maths is crap. As is your idea of democracy. The Conservatives were democratically elected. My advice: face up to the fact that yours is a minority opinion in England in 2015. just because a party was democratically elected that doesn't necessarily mean that someone who voted for the opposition has a minority opinion. What a false idea. Far more than anyone else Buce. But that doesn't make their opinion a majority opinion.
Guest Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 Great show on bbc2 now about how much poverty has been eradicated and progress made around the world. Capitalism is incredible. Especially for the few!
Guest Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 You cant really tell how much is being claimed fraudulently though can you? so is this the new argument to be adopted regarding tax evasion and every other similar type of statistic? I wouldn't rely on hmrc estimates, when i was late filling in my tax return they fined me a hundred pounds and estimated I owed £6500 in tax. I hadn't worked self employed that year and owed them nothing. But I bet you sorted out your tax return form quickly.
Guest Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 I just bought lunch from the discount section in asda. Is that all I can afford? No. So why did I do it? Because I like cheap shit. And you know what's better than cheap shit? Free shit. Ain't nobody cares about indignity when shit is cheap or free. Have you not seen black Friday fights on YouTube? People use foodbanks because they exist. They exist because the trussel Trust was set up by a pair of tories who are making sick money out of it. Real world. So why don't you go to a food bank then?
RedSoxUK Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 Wow, someone have some time on r/theredpill or /pol/ fora today? Lot of boxes ticked in that one, particularly the first paragraph. And I'll make the same point as I did to Moose. Why is it that how we work defines us? And why is talking about the idea of a more equal society always deemed overly idealistic, and by extension unrealistic or unattainable? I like the Matrix and I know a lot about the changing North American social policies - thus the whole political corectness rant; because it's bonkers over there. If we're talking philosophy, I personally don't think how you work, what work it is, or what background your from necessarily defines your political allegiance and your beliefs. I believe humans tend to be selfish via human nature. I don't particulalry believe in her views, but Ayn Rand's writings on individualism and objectivism go hand in hand with capitalism and greed. Even though a lot of it just doesn't work with most capitalists especially in modern day capitalist societies; it's Adam Smith's self-interest which correlates more with the common man. You need competition, you need goals, this is what drives us.
Guest Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 I have better things to do with my time than needlessly upsetting good people, I don't blame them for it, I'd do the same in a similar scenario. But they're not good people if they are defrauding other good hard working people. They need to be grassed up!
Guest Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 I occasionally do polls for YouGov and they send the odd update re. their findings. Just received this one: "And you know those do-gooder lefties who are all morally righteous about helping the poor and needy? Turns out that’s a myth too. In fact, right-leaning people are significantly more likely to believe that they are morally superior than the rest of society". Hang on, I'll just call the new Slovakian au pair (thanks for letting her in, Dave). She can pour me a nice cool glass of champagne while I enjoy roasting my nuts in front of the fire, like any true socialist should do... Surely you're not roasting your own nuts.
MooseBreath Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 Especially for the few! I'm quite happy for "the few" to have benefitted "especially" when it has resulted in monumental strides being made in eradicating global poverty and improving the lives of billions all around the world. Are you not?
MooseBreath Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 So why don't you go to a food bank then? A) because I can't be bothered to go and pick up some vouchers and B) because I doubt they stock the kind of quality ingredients that I like to eat
Guest Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 I'm quite happy for "the few" to have benefitted "especially" when it has resulted in monumental strides being made in eradicating global poverty and improving the lives of billions all around the world. Are you not? Are you saying that the billion (s) at the bottom are not merely being replaced by others. I look around the world and can't see the eradication of global poverty. Maybe that's just a government stat based on false data. A) because I can't be bothered to go and pick up some vouchers and B) because I doubt they stock the kind of quality ingredients that I like to eat Have you thought that those you were talking about would feel the same as you?

All your concerns will be alleviated. You don't think global poverty has been reduced? You're not looking.
Guest Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 I'm sure the show is on iplayer if you can watch it. All your concerns will be alleviated. You don't think global poverty has been reduced? You're not looking. Or maybe they're not looking in the right places.
MooseBreath Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 Have you thought that those you were talking about would feel the same as you? No because they have different priorities and lower disposable income. I'm happy to spend more money on good food, they'd rather get cheap food for free so they can spend more on strongbow or whatever.
MooseBreath Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 Or maybe they're not looking in the right places. Watch the show and then come back to me. It wasn't political propaganda.
RedSoxUK Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 Watch the show and then come back to me. It wasn't political propaganda. What show is this? and what is it called?
MooseBreath Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 What show is this? and what is it called? Here you are, found it on YouTube. Recommended watching for anyone under any illusions as to the massive improvements in living standards across the world in recent decades. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVjZjPbHrFE&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Claridge Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 Labour deputy leader Tom Watson has refused to apologise for demanding that police investigate sex abuse claims against the late Lord Brittan. Surely Watson is the vilest MP to ever grace parliament
Buce Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 Labour deputy leader Tom Watson has refused to apologise for demanding that police investigate sex abuse claims against the late Lord Brittan. Surely Watson is the vilest MP to ever grace parliament Do you think allegations of sexually abusing children shouldn't be investigated?
Guest MattP Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 They should Buce. Politicians should probably refrain from outside them though and calling them "the closest thing to evil" though until it's been proven. Watson is a bigger joke than Corbyn and that's saying something, he'll be gone over this in a while.
Strokes Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 Do you think allegations of sexually abusing children shouldn't be investigated? Yes, providing he had no ulterior motive I have no problems with MPs using their parliamentary privileges to attempt to expose it. Hopefully the storm won't prevent any potential whistleblowers of such activities.
Guest MattP Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 http://www.newstatesman.com/politics/uk/2015/10/labour-tensions-boil-over-fractious-mps-meeting Meanwhile it's going about as well behind the scenes in the Labour party as it is in public.

Claridge Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 Do you think allegations of sexually abusing children shouldn't be investigated? Yes they should be. Do you think people who smear others should apologise? Thought it was one of your pet hates ?
Rincewind Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 So why don't you go to a food bank then? He would not have the right forms to hand in.
Rincewind Posted 12 October 2015 Posted 12 October 2015 Do you think allegations of sexually abusing children shouldn't be investigated? Only if it is a Labour council it seems.
