sphericalfox Posted 11 October 2015 Posted 11 October 2015 0.7% of claimants are fraudulent, out of a population of 1.85m unemployed I make that 129,500 people (0.002% of the UK population). It's hardly a large amount, enough to fill Old Trafford and Ashburton Grove with seats to spare. Facts will be ignored. Reasoning incapable must be a debilitating and tiring condition.
Rincewind Posted 11 October 2015 Posted 11 October 2015 Its a case of hanging 100 people to make sure you have hung the one who is guilty.
MooseBreath Posted 11 October 2015 Posted 11 October 2015 You realise of course that tax credits come under benefits and those on minimum wage working 40 hours a week qualify for those? Not according the the government's calculator they don't.
Guest Kopfkino Posted 11 October 2015 Posted 11 October 2015 You're more than welcome to, Claridge. I don't actually bear you any ill will. There are two types of Tories: those that vote because they are too dumb to see through the lies and propaganda, and those who vote through sociopathic self-interest. You are just one of the former, a turkey voting for Xmas, and I sincerely hope you never find yourself too unwell to support yourself. Is that not also why anyone votes for any political party?

Also, when people talk about undeserved benefits, they're not only referring to fraudulent claims but also benefits that they feel are unnecessary and or excessive.
Buce Posted 11 October 2015 Posted 11 October 2015 21.96% of the total eligible voting population, so just over 1 in 5. Thanks, Doc. Looks like my maths isn't so crap, after all, Moose. So four out of five voters did not choose to be led by a Tory government; it seems my views on democracy aren't so crap either.
Buce Posted 11 October 2015 Posted 11 October 2015 Is that not also why anyone votes for any political party? No.
Rincewind Posted 11 October 2015 Posted 11 October 2015 Not according the the government's calculator they don't. Of course they would not. They would not come to any conclusion that did not favour them. Whichever govt was in power.

So four out of five voters did not choose to be led by a Tory government; it seems my views on democracy aren't so crap either. More people voted for the conservatives than did for any other party. That's democracy, Buce. Your maths is still crap, you said so yourself. Of course they would not. They would not come to any conclusion that did not favour them. Whichever govt was in power. Oh OK so it comes down to intentional calculator error.

MooseBreath Posted 11 October 2015 Posted 11 October 2015 There are lies damned lies and statistics. It's not statistics though, it's a calculator where you put in your details and it tells you if you're eligible. Are you saying the government has intentionally made this calculator work incorrectly in order to mislead people into thinking they're not entitled to claim?
Buce Posted 11 October 2015 Posted 11 October 2015 More people voted for the conservatives than did for any other party. That's democracy, Buce. Your maths is still crap, you said so yourself. . I see you've not lost your habit of ignoring uncomfortable truths. You stated that 'people agree with the Conservatives' - clearly nearly 80% don't.
MooseBreath Posted 11 October 2015 Posted 11 October 2015 I see you've not lost your habit of ignoring uncomfortable truths. You stated that 'people agree with the Conservatives' - clearly nearly 80% don't. You're assuming those who didn't vote don't agree with the conservatives. The fact is that of the people willing to engage in the democratic process, more of them agreed with the tories than did for any other party. You're in a minority position in England in 2015 and I think perhaps it's time you tried to work out why. It's not 1998 anymore and it never will be again.

Rincewind Posted 11 October 2015 Posted 11 October 2015 The No Party party got the most votes but were not elected. How is that democratic?

bovril Posted 11 October 2015 Posted 11 October 2015 What happened here? haha Buce is on the rag and MattP is pissed off after a pea found its way on to his Sunday lunch.
MooseBreath Posted 11 October 2015 Posted 11 October 2015 Great show on bbc2 now about how much poverty has been eradicated and progress made around the world. Capitalism is incredible.
Rincewind Posted 11 October 2015 Posted 11 October 2015 How many died then? I'm going to watch some Sons Of Anarchy. Better class of people with empathy and compassion on there.
BlueSi13 Posted 11 October 2015 Posted 11 October 2015 Meanwhile Corbyn's and McDonnell's links with the IRA get deeper and deeper and deeper. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/Jeremy_Corbyn/11924431/Revealed-Jeremy-Corbyn-and-John-McDonnells-close-IRA-links.html http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/jeremy-corbyn-refuses-to-comment-on-new-reports-of-close-links-to-ira-a6689681.html Saw a great comment by a chap on Twitter which said: "The problem that is clear now regarding Corbyn, McDonnell and the IRA is this: it was never about dialogue, they wanted them to win". Now I know there are some lefties on here that would vote Labour even if they had Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi as leader (I was one of them until I woke up), but some of you must be a LITTLE bit concerned with the views of some of those who are now in charge of your party?

Do you seriously think a majority of Labour voters would care?
Bettsj2 Posted 11 October 2015 Posted 11 October 2015 But they do!Its ridiculous. Any fool could see at the last election the Tories were the ONLY party that actually had an idea of what they wanted to do and how they'd go about it.You may not like what they do but at least they had that. Labour under Milliband were more of a joke than they are now, Clegg killed the Lib Dems and UKIP only really have immigration as a vote winner. Just as a side note on the benefits thing, anyone who claims that they live an easy life by claiming benefits are full of shit. They'll be earning money on the side. A while back I was made redundant. I claimed absolutely everything I could and guess what? It didnt even cover the rent. Anyone you know who say they are living off benefits or anyone that says they know somebody that is (not including the disabled, carers, single mothers etc. Just the ordinary man) are lying. Also, lets be honest with each other. If you have a political persuasion, it would take something absolutely monumental to change your mind, left or right. So lets not throw insults at each other if you disagree with someone. This thread by and large is one of the best on here but recently its becoming like a matchday thread.
Thracian Posted 11 October 2015 Posted 11 October 2015 "I may not like it?" I feel far better served by the Conservatives than ever I was by the Labour Party and as for Milliband - the bloke needs to do some proper work before arrogantly imagining he has the experience to dictate what's best for the rest of us. He's like a naive schoolkid and if he or Corbyn are the best Labour can offer I don't know why they don't just disband and go live in Russia or some other Marxist enclave where they'd feel more at home.
