katieakita Posted 16 December 2015 Posted 16 December 2015 Clattenburg had an awful game and if Huth and Vardy deserved to be booked Oscar for the late challenge on Albrighton, Zouma for hacking down Vardy and who ever took Kante out as we broke from our box in the 2nd half were also yellows. He even made a note of the challenge on Kante and waved play on yet did not do anything when play stopped. Players will miss games due to suspension, Huth is out sat and vardy is a booking away from a one match ban, Chelsea got away with 3 bookings on Monday, you expect good refs and get bad refs but you at least expect them to be consistent.
Dickov22 Posted 17 December 2015 Posted 17 December 2015 Was it necessary? We were 2-0 up and Diego Costa had it on the halfway line. If Willian or Oscar or Hazard had it then fair enough, but Costa can't hurt us from there and we had other players back. At the time I thought fair enough, and there was no risk in giving away the free kick at the cost of a yellow, but for a suspension it seemed a little unnecessary I would have backed us not to concede had Costa lumbered down the wing with the ball. Definitely a necessity. Stops a Chelsea attack when we were starting to get under to cosh a bit.
Captain... Posted 17 December 2015 Posted 17 December 2015 Definitely a necessity. Stops a Chelsea attack when we were starting to get under to cosh a bit. If it was Willian or Oscar then sure, but I think Costa out wide on the half way line isn't going to hurt us, he doesn't have the pace nor the range of passing to do any damage out there, and at the expense of a suspension I would, in hindsight, say it was unnecessary. As a rule I have no problem with the cynical foul to stop an attack and take a booking for the team, something which Huth has brought to us, and something we have lacked before, often being too nice and honest. I just hope we don't end up regretting it on Saturday.

Captain... Posted 17 December 2015 Posted 17 December 2015 Huth is an angel compared to Wasyl! Huth is a lot more cynical than Wasyl, Wasyl is a beast, but I don't remember him doing too many cynical fouls on the half way line.

shen Posted 17 December 2015 Posted 17 December 2015 Huth is a lot more cynical than Wasyl, Wasyl is a beast, but I don't remember him doing too many cynical fouls on the half way line. It was a little bit tongue in cheek Wasyl has an ability to hide his wild elbows from referees, which is something he's obviously practised throughout his career It's quite amazing as his swings often seem blatant when watching them in replay. The way players (naturally) go down after receiving an arm/elbow to the face should usually get the ref's or assistant's attention but it so rarely does. I think both Huth and Wasyl are actually at their worst when in the opposing penalty area during set pieces. Like, leaving a foot in or barging over players/goalkeepers needlessly and never intending to play the ball.
Gerard Posted 17 December 2015 Posted 17 December 2015 Morgan 10, absolute colossus for us. His best game for city and really stepped up a level, he (and Huth) unsettled costa and ruffled him from the start and has such completely dominated him, he really looked like he was enjoying himself too. Shown himself to be a top premier league defender last night. Agree, one thing I've noticed about Morgan this season is he spends less time on his arse. Last season he threw himself about but this season he's more clever and measured. He's a late developer but he's been excellent this season and I think it's clicked with him what he needs to do at this level.

Something I've missed this season - I love it when he dives forward like a fish to get his head on a ball
