Tom Clancy's The Division

I know dude and I've been championing the Division to all my mates convincing them all to stick with it, but the way Massive has reacted to the community since launch has done nothing to fill me with confidence that they actually know what they're doing - in any way / shape / form. If they wanted this game to be a success they needed to look to the way Diablo 3 failed in it's first year - the way Destiny failed in it's first year - it's not the first time this kind of game has been made, just a new setting. They should have gone all out and drafted in a game-play designer from D3 or Destiny to get the loot system right from the start. Also, all of the levelling content is glitched, so people who have abused it are FAR, far more geared up than those who haven't meaning there is a huge imbalance in the player base. Casual players will leave because they can't compete and hardcore players / cheaters will leave because there isn't anything else to do.

Massive had plenty of reference on how NOT to approach a game like this and it looks like they chose to ignore it and they're now struggling to make the game balanced / fair. I wanted the Division to be great and I have plenty of patience, but I can't see them coming back from this. Destiny has a strong player-base still because of the multi-player element of the game - the deathmatch is balanced and everyone can compete. They didn't want PVP in the Division but they actively encouraged it in the end by removing all penalties for people going Rogue in the DZ. So - in the DZ you effectively become forced to play PVP in a very unbalanced way. If they're going to encourage PVP they need to create another section of the game where people can do that on an even footing.

The game is a mess tbh.

Agree with most of that

What I will say is the campaign, side missions, trophies etc kept me going for a good three solid weeks and a good 60-70 hours worth of gameplay and that part of the game was very solid. The End game was ok for awhile and I've probably clocked 100+ hours now and their aint that many games I get that amount of time out off.

i see your points, and explaining it to my brother last night made it sound incredibly boring,, but i'm still really enjoying it. i like solo'ing the DZ , sneaking about and grabbing loot, there's plenty of high end gear to be found on named enemies, and if i cant use it ill break it down and craft something. but the exploits have spoiled it for the rest of us

yeah man, I still enjoy bits of it, but I've spent hours in the DZ with a mate or two over the last couple of weeks and even in DZ05/06 I'm still mostly picking up level 163 gear, not a 182 in sight. It's ****ing useless to me. They've effectively made all drops GOLD but 163 gold is just the same as purple used to be. The quality of drop rates hasn't got any better, they've just made it look like it has. The game needs to drop way more loot - named enemies should drop 4 gold items. At least it gives you a higher chance of getting something decent. At the moment you've got low drop rates (mostly ****ing mods), low gold drop levels (mostly 163) and then you have to hope that the RNG gives you 3 decent talents (mostly end up with skill talents). Now that they have nerfed the crafting to require a silly amount of materials you can't even roll a decent weapon as it costs so many materials.

People love grinding in games - D3 being a great example. People will put in 100's of hours if they feel the system is fair and they stand a half-decent chance of getting something good when they log on. If you spend 4 hours in the DZ of an evening then get back to the BoO and delete everything you picked up because it sucks then you just end up logging off and going to bed feeling like you've wasted 4 hours.

Be interesting to see if they manage to get it right but I fear that by then I'll be playing something else anyway. I'm heading back to Witcher 3 at the moment and with Overwatch on the way (which looks to be awesome FPS multi-player from the good 'ol days of games like Quake) I can see Division getting traded-in to pay for that.

Sure thing dude, the content was fine, but for a game that is supposed to be a loot-based RPG (which is what they sold it as) there isn't enough end-game to keep people coming back for one, two or even three years later. I actually praised the division for feeling so finished in it's release state but after pouring over 100+ hours in myself the cracks have started to show really badly. There isn't anything else to do and it's badly imbalanced. I didn't expect to finish the story and hit the DZ for a few days to be left feeling like there isn't any reason for progression.

Why do I want that level 182 gun? So I can replay the Russian Consulate mission on Challenging for the 100th time to try and get another level 182 gun with worse talents on it? That's just a waste of time.

All very good points. i havent really been hammering it, still trying to get the highest level stuff,, so , for me there is plenty to do. haven't even done the incursion yet. maybe when i have wn everything i will feel the same way. my main gripe is my drkzone stash capacity only being 30, whats the point? takes half an hour to fill up

What do people make of this then?

Looking at the gameplay it looks quality. You never know with Ubisoft though, they're very hit and miss.

Personally, it's nearly almost like Destiny, different in a variety of things, but the whole concept and loot system is practically the same, forcing you to grind and farm areas for loot.

Or if you're us, glitch and cheat to get stuff, but only because we're sick of grinding 20+ hours to get 1 purple item that we don't even need.

It tore our group of friends up to be honest.

7/10 in total, but won't be playing again any time soon.

This pretty much sums up my time playing the game as well. Good game but it got boring very quickly and the game is full of bugs.
