AjcW Posted 13 February 2016 Posted 13 February 2016 Ahh the scene of an incredible atmosphere for the first leg of the Watford play off... And the scene of dispair for the second! Anyway the name has completely escaped me and I can't find the various threads I created about it after the game... Can someone jog my memory as I'm down in London tomorrow and need somewhere to watch the game in friendly surroundings! I just remember it was Regent's Park way I think!
Burmesefox Posted 13 February 2016 Posted 13 February 2016 Theres a pub owned by a Leicester fan called the stag's head new Cavendish street Soho - he's showing the game. A lot of Leicester fans drinking in O'neills opposite St Pancras as the Emerates has an alcohol ban before the game.

Matt Posted 13 February 2016 Posted 13 February 2016 Where's everyone drinking tomorrow? (Who's going to the game) I've had abit of a look, the away pub suggestions i've seen that are nearby the Emirates are; The Drayton Arms (But I've done a google search and I don't think this place is still in business, maybe it's had a name change but can't find anything on a pub of this name) The Twelve Pins (Opens at 11am on Sunday's, so not gonna have much time in there before the match - unless they're opening up early because of the early KO) The Blackstock (Opens at 12pm on Sundays, unless again they're going to open up early) The White Lion of Mortimer (Weatherspoons pub, opens at 9am - so seems the only option really) Normally for a London away game I drink elsewhere then move on closer to the ground, but being a Sunday, i'll be getting into London at 9.45am, not got that much time before the game so i'm gonna go close to the stadium and find somewhere there hopefully.

The Twelve Pins is a s**t hole on match days, and full of Gooner wrong'uns... Can't imagine it'll be a nice pre-match drink. The White Lion has closed down permanently. Source: Me. I live in Islington.

Am I correct in my assumption that is no longer in business? Any other suggestions? Other wise I might just be better off to have a couple around St Pancras area then move onto the Emirates.

I think the Drayton Arms is open, it was towards the end of last year anyway. But don't quote me on that. The Coronet on Holloway Rd. will be open as it's a Wetherspoon, can't say I've ever been in there on a match day though.
migston Posted 13 February 2016 Posted 13 February 2016 I also live nearby. The Drayton is in business, but crap. Not much will be open before 12 around here I'm afraid. You best bet will be the Pins or Blackstock at Finsbury Park. If they're no good, keep on down Blackstock Road as there are 5 or 6 which aren't too awful on match day. Another option is to come off the tube at Highbury & Islington and head down Upper Street or check out the Hen opposite or my favourite in N1, the Compton Arms just around the corner - Google for Compton Terrace, less than 5 mins away, Anyone here driving, be aware there are really really long roadworks on the A1 at Highgate tube - avoid the area
leo1975 Posted 13 February 2016 Posted 13 February 2016 Anybody know much about the Rochester castle pub (Wetherspoons) about 1.5 miles from the ground?
Storming Posted 13 February 2016 Posted 13 February 2016 Sky TV please take note if you must change game times at least have it a few hours after the pub opens

Massive error on their behalf if not.
Matt Posted 13 February 2016 Posted 13 February 2016 Just found where the Drayton Arms is, On the outside of the pub it's simply Drayton Park so whether it's had a name change. Anyway still can't find opening times or even a phone number but it looks logistically the best pub (Looks almost right opposite the Emirates), think i'm gonna take a flyer on this pub (Like Maybes said if The Drayton isn't open early it's a massive error on their behalf) or The Coronet. Not got much time to **** about though if one isn't open, although they're only 10 - 15 minute walk away from each other though, apparently The Coronet is open at 8am. I've read Holloway Road Tube Station isn't open/doesn't stop there on a match day? Is that correct? That'd be the nearest station wouldn't it, obviously if it isn't open Arsenal would be the best station to go to I think.

Arsenal is closest, but crowded so Finsbury Park or Highbury & Islington are usually preferred depending on which direction you're coming from. And, like I said earlier, both are decent bets for pubs with the caveat that they are not normally open that early on a Sunday

The drayton arms is another pub, the one we went last year is drayton park, like you said it's next to the emirates, has to open early as it's the away pub(I hope).

AjcW Posted 14 February 2016 Author Posted 14 February 2016 Amazing as always in there... Although I might stop going with two heartbreaking last minute goals out of two now
StriderHiryu Posted 14 February 2016 Posted 14 February 2016 ^Were you there for the Watford play-off semi-final defeat? I was there today as well. Felt guilty for slating Walcott and Wellbeck who both promptly scored... Still the whole pub was singing "Top of the league" afterwards which made me smile.
