HEGGSY Posted 29 February 2016 Posted 29 February 2016 Basically sold something on eBay which the buyer wasn't happy with so he requested a refund, fair enough I accepted it. But now my PayPal account is negative and I'm unable to purchase anything until I add funds. Ive done refunds before and never had my PP go negative, it's -£100 which is what he paid, but my question is if I add the 100 to make it positive again, then issue him a refund when I get my item back, am I £100 out of pocket or do they just used the 100 I put back in? If that makes any sense. Cheers
AyewJoking Posted 29 February 2016 Posted 29 February 2016 if he refunds u via paypal then surely it will balance your account? if you refund him via paypal

AyewJoking Posted 29 February 2016 Posted 29 February 2016 if you refund him the £100 via paypal it will bring your account back to £0.00
goose2010 Posted 29 February 2016 Posted 29 February 2016 Paypal should never go to negative I don't think, they will just take the money from your bank (or attempt to) that is set up on the account.
Raj Posted 29 February 2016 Posted 29 February 2016 When the buyer paid you the money ie £100- Did PayPal take their commission hence leaving you for example £92??? You then issued a full refund of £100 leaving you -£8.....Does this make sense Heggsy??? Give the fookers a ring
VLC86 Posted 29 February 2016 Posted 29 February 2016 He will have raised a dispute which automatically deducts the balance from your account, when you then pay that £100 back in it (guessing you withdrew it) then it will balance.
Collymore Posted 29 February 2016 Posted 29 February 2016 I sold something that the person claims they never received. It was worth £50 and I stupidly sent it first class not recorded. He now wants a refund as he claims he didn't receive it. What are my options? Basically sold something on eBay which the buyer wasn't happy with so he requested a refund, fair enough I accepted it. Did you get a receipt from the post office ? you might be able to claim from them as 1st class is insured. I hate it when people do it as 90% of the time I am sure they are just blagging it. I some times try and scare them off by sending something to myself recorded which will give you a tracking number send them that tracking number and you will then know if they are trying to blag a free £50 out of you! If they come back and say no its still not been delivered then there is nothing you can do apart from trying to claim from royal mail but I have found 60-70% of people never come back to me! I send about 15-20 parcels out a month and it happens now and again.
Raj Posted 1 March 2016 Posted 1 March 2016 Check previous feedback and see if they have done it before. I had this issue with s buyer, checked their feedback and they did a few times over a year.I asked eBay to look into it...they got banned and I got my money back

Cheers Sounds like a reconciliation error - check the statement if you haven't already, but they've either not credited you with the £100 purchase initially or debited the £100 refund twice. Either way, this is PayPal's error at the moment because your account shouldn't have gone minus. I wouldn't put £100 in for now as that might make things harder to get correction on - at least if the balance is negative it'd be pretty obvious to anyone investigating that somethings not gone to plan. Best of luck - administration errors can be a pain to put right.
