Jimothy Posted 12 March 2016 Posted 12 March 2016 I think Rafa can get them in the top 4 next year. Whether they'll win the play offs is another matter though.
bluesbrothers Posted 12 March 2016 Posted 12 March 2016 Could you provide a link for that reddit thread? Sure - it's the one about Rafa getting them in for an extra training session. They seem to think that alone is proof that they're gonna be safe. Some of the comments in there are clearly tongue-in-cheek, but plenty of Newcastle fans genuinely seem to believe that they're going to be fine based purely on Rafa's recent record. They didn't like me reminding them that "on paper" squad strength would have us as relegation dead-certs, and they seem to genuinely believe they have a brilliant squad that has somehow been "let down by McClaren (!)" It all went quiet when I mentioned that this scenario is a carbon-copy of the position Shearer found the club in when he took over - we all know what happened then. And no, that was never a red for Richie Wellens. https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/4a047w/rafa_benitezs_first_move_as_newcastle_manager_was/ The delusion is unbelievable. Reddit users, go and give me le upvotes before bitter magpies bury my posts. I'm Mushroomchow.
Livid Posted 12 March 2016 Posted 12 March 2016 Who cares who their manager is? We've took points off top teams all season long. Let's not underestimate them but just go out there and do what we do to the best of our ability. If we fall short fair enough, if not great.
Sionnach gorm Posted 12 March 2016 Posted 12 March 2016 I believe that Rafa can make a difference, but not in this short term. I don't believe, unlike Claudio, that he's ever been in a relegation fight before. He could be good at it, but it is an unknown. I don't see him as a threat this early in his time at Newcastle. Also I think Claudio is a better manager. He's historically made small teams better. One aside not on topic: If Newcastle is relegated will he remain there as Claudio promised he would be, or will he head for the hills? Anyone know this arrangement?

He's got a relegation get out clause! ..he'll be outta there in 9 games time!
Bluetintedspecs Posted 12 March 2016 Posted 12 March 2016 He's got a relegation get out clause! ..he'll be outta there in 9 games time! Yep boost his retirement fund, take them down and fvck off, hail the Geordie Messiah
MagicMahrez Posted 12 March 2016 Posted 12 March 2016 Nah win for city 3-0. Vardy x2 and Ulloa. If Coloccini's playing, then happy days for Vards. Also, should be an interesting video from true geordie if we win.
Sionnach gorm Posted 12 March 2016 Posted 12 March 2016 He's got a relegation get out clause! ..he'll be outta there in 9 games time! You are right. Thanks. It gives you pause when you realize that CR when asked if he would remain if Leicester was relegated, he said "of course"...top man, top manager. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/03/12/rafael-benitez-confirms-relegation-release-clause-in-newcastle-c/
Tuna Posted 12 March 2016 Posted 12 March 2016 Lets make sure he activates his break clause at 10pm on Monday!
biggs Posted 12 March 2016 Posted 12 March 2016 Newcastle just find new ways to waste money. Sunderland will find a way to escape once again. Pearson hired to get Newcastle promoted next year

Rincewind Posted 13 March 2016 Posted 13 March 2016 Unusual. Clubs normally sack managers after we play them. Could be anticipation thinking we have no chance let's throw the towel in now.
