If it is Rafa he's a great Manager and he will have them organised at the back, he will set up to defend and frustrate us but he has 3 days max to try and do this, a well tuned Reliant Robin v a well tuned Ferrari, best of luck to him.

They are still shite and their players don't look bothered at all.

It was the same when they last got relegated. Shearer came in "oh he'll get the players playing"... they still went down.

Players don't look bothered I suspect because the numpties at Newcastle didn't write a relegation clause into their contracts, so confident were they of staying up. So they don't personally have as much to lose a, say, Sunderland, which does have a relegation clause

This will be a tough match, just as Norwich and Watford were tough matches. Benitez can't make much difference and I read somewhere that the team has a day off tomorrow anyway.

If I were them I would come and play for a point, remember they only need to be better than Norwich or Sunderland to stay up, they don't need to close that gap on Swansea et al.

The good news is that we're getting more experienced at dealing with teams who play that way, and confidence must be really high too. But as I said, it won't be easy - 1-0 citeh

Waiting until the end of the week to sack him could work in our favour.

Presumably all this week, the manager won't have been at the training ground and their preparations would have gone completely awry.

As for trying to "impress" a new manager...I've never really believed in this idea. They are staring at relegation - if they haven't got the motivation to play, then I'd say that's down to the character/commitment of the players rather than the man in charge.

I'm no expert on them, but it seems what they need is what we had when Pearson took over...i.e. clear out the overpaid deadwood, get in some players with desire, keep them fit and keep things simple when it comes to tactics.

Will John Carver manage on Monday, like he did last year?

Will be tough against ''one of the best managers in the world''...

Why are people even worrying about Newcastle. They are a car crash. Doesn't matter who we play against aslong as we play our game then we have a great chance of winning. This Newcastle team are shot to pieces and i'm still sticking by my 6-0 win with a Vardy Hat trick.

There away form is embarrassing.

Be impressive if he did considering he was sacked......

Beardsley will be in charge for Monday.

Carver said he was "one of the best coaches in the league". Not manager.

There is a difference between a coach and a manager. See McLaren. Wonderful coach - ask Alex Ferguson.

It's a hard one to call. If McClaren had stayed then some players would have responded positively to that decision, others will respond positively to his dismissal and the possible pre-game appointment of a big name manager. Either way there was set to be a reaction.

On the one hand players who have made playing Newcastle a dream by being stubbornly uncommitted will put in the obligatory display to impress the new man, on the other hand this could play to our strengths because Newcastle could take the game to us, which we tend to prefer.

When I read Shelvey's interview yesterday my first reaction was that it would be better to play against an interim manager than either Benitez or McClaren. We'll have to see, but it's definitely a huge potential banana skin. Being aware of that could, equally, be the key.

It's too late for any magical turnaround. They may play a little freer now they've got rid.

But they either come at us, and we can beat them using the first 3/4 of the season as a precedent.

Or defend in droves, focusing in on Vardy and Mahrez, and we've got better at breaking down such teams.

We knew these matches will be difficult, but most definitely winnable. This is no different, with or without McClaren.

They've had a whole week of Mac the Clown and the circus that is Newcastle. Rafa gets to see the squad Sunday apparently. Not enough time to do much except confuse them.

We very much need to turn up for EVERY game. We should beat Newcastle, but only if we are at our best.

It'll be obvious is Benitez has had any say in the team. If they turn up with a back 5 and 4 defensive midfielders, he's got his greasy mits on the tactics.

I think a lot of their players are going to be upping their game just to put themselves in the shopping window in the summer so it's deffo not going to be a complete walkover

why are the media purring over Benitez like he's some kind of genius, lauding his track record and such when they ALL laid into Ranieri to begin with? Ranieri's track record is arguably better than Rafa's if not right on par. twats
