An Away Move

Buddhist 'mandalas' on either side of the home dressing room

Last year I completed a Masters degree in Traditions of Yoga & Meditation. A good chunk of that course was on Buddhism, so it's fair to say that some of the Buddhist practice at the club has been of interest to me.

On either side of the home dressing room there appear to be two Buddhist mandalas. I'd be very interested to get a close up look at these (and share any points of interest here if that would be of interest?)

Might anyone have an email of a contact at the club I could talk to about this?

Incidentally, a colleague of mine who knows nothing about football contacted me last week as she had heard rumours that all of the playing staff and employees have been having weekly meditation sessions. She is into her meditation and was quite excited about the thought of it making a difference on the pitch.... Not sure if there's any truth in the weekly session thing though....

Cant comment on the mandalas, but i did notice when i was in the home dressing room that all entrances to the dressing room had a yellow line just inside the door all except the door they use that leads to the pitch. The idea being that they 'lock in' the good luck into the dressing room and it then follows them onto the pitch... Not sure if that resonates with anything that you learnt?

Indecently, they declined toi put these yellow lines at the entrances to the away dressing room :D

Interesting! I think nobody, whether they believe in this stuff or not, can deny that there's certainly a lot of positive energy in and surrounding our club at present. Nationally and globally too. It's like a huge, magnified 12th man!

Only thing I've noticed is the gold flags on the top of the stands the whole way around the stadium. I take it that's got something to do with blessing the team too?

Next time I'm at the stadium I'll look out for those. Unless anyone has any pictures?

All the way round the ground blue and gold. The away corner is exempt for obvious reasons.

That's a postgrad degree to you ;) My other degree is in dance  True story!

Ahh the Old Dancing Monk, pretty sure I saw you live in a working men's club back in the early 90s

Oh Christ - you didn't know Dave Flowers did you?

It doesn't ring a bell. Last time I was there I think I was 15 years old at a disco with some other kids from Hamilton Community College, pretending we were older than we were. Must have been 1987. I went up the bar and asked for a pint of 'base'. The barman said, "I don't know what the **** that is, but if you want a pint of Bass I can help you with that!"
