New idea - A sea of blue and white scarves for the Kop/other stands, next season.

  1. 1. Would you like to see a sea of blue and white scarves in the stadium for pre matches at the KP, either this season or the next?

    • Yes, this would be great and would love to take part.

    • Maybe, depends on how well it would work.

This idea came to me this morning regarding an idea that I think could work really well. If you all remember, against West Brom (a) and Crystal Palace (a) this season, the club handed out free scarves in the away ends, it looked superb.

So, do you think there might be a way that the club/fans could organise a sea of blue and white scarves moments before KO, on some matchdays at the ground next season? Given the UFS Tifo's and how great they are, perhaps we could incorporate this at some other home games too. I feel it has potential to look fantastic, especially if every fan in the Kop for instance is holding their blue and white scarf up as the boys head out onto the pitch. I mean I suppose we could time the sea of blue and white scarves, in conjunction with Hey Jude playing. Again, that could be good.

Any thoughts welcome. Just thought I'd share this suggestion with you.

Here is what the KP stands could look like if we utilized the scarves to their best potential:

I think Man United fans organised a "scarf day" for one of their away days before (Fulham?) and their end looked class.

As long as people know they're for twirling, not for wearing.

why just the kop

You know I wonder if they realise the rest of us are there lol

I'd love this to be a whole stadium effort

Especially east stand and Kop

Maybe TOP could shout us all a new scarf for this effort !

I've wanted this for a while. Scarves aren't used enough these days. The whole stadium could be awash with blue and white scarves. Something like the Scousers use when they sing you'll never walk alone.

Agree folks it doesn't necessarily have to just be the Kop, having the whole stadium or a few of the stands (i.e East stand and Kop) with blue and white scarfs would look absolutely superb too, if done right. Regarding doing the possible display this season, I was going to suggest this anyway, but wondered at the time whether there would be other fan involvement events planned from the club already against Everton - however this could be an ideal opportunity for them with the scarfs.

I could put this idea forward to the club, but obviously I will be the only supporter to email them about the idea so it's unlikely it would happen (not enough support).

Also, not a criticism of the club but I've emailed countless times about possible fan ideas, stadium ideas or for more improved atmospheric matchdays, and the answer has always tended to be no. Frustration is not the right word, but I feel I've got so many potentially good ideas to improve the stadium and the answer always tends to be no. I suspect this could be the same with other supporters too.

I will be honest this idea is one of the more likely to happen given that the club used the scarfs at West Brom and Crystal Palace.

Imagine the whole stadium filled with blue and white, as our boys head out onto the pitch. Would set the tone for the atmosphere - just like the Tifo's do.

Needs to be done this season, we need to get the lads over the line

Exactly right. Tifo's and such like really increase the atmosphere, and can give excellent inspiration to the players.

Maybe UFS would be keen to jump on board with this? It's a free tifo!

Yep, well this is what I thought. It's equivalent to a Tifo if displayed correctly.

If Union FS could get on board there would be much more a chance of it happening than just me suggesting it to the club.

Importantly, we needed to establish if every fan in the stadium would like the idea, would be willing to take part and also a high majority would need to like the idea too.

I've just added a poll folks. Feel free to vote, if not it's there for anyone who needs it or for any other users new to looking at the idea.

Anything that's done like this has to be organised by the fans. If the club were to suddenly give out 30 thousand scarves before a game it wouldn't mean anything.

Perhaps you should get involved in Union FS mate if you're fed up with the club dismissing your ideas.

Yeah, might contact UFS actually. Alot more likely to happen if they are involved. I will wait and see for a bit, and I will let the poll contiune to see more extensive results.

Always take my scarf, love 'em.

Me and a mate keep jokingly say we might try to make some silk scarves and see if we can get them going again.

If your too young to remember the silk scarves (cheap nylon by the way, not real silk) ask your dad.

In my dream we put up our scarves before a Champion's League match and sing When You're Smiling at a steady pace.

Union FS had some beautiful silk scarves on sale, sold out pretty sharpish!

Right, well these are the results from the poll:
I've rounded the figures as round numbers and may update them continually.

Yes 90%
No 4%
Maybe 5%.

Ok this looks like a popular idea, who's up for Everton?

YES, come on everyone, bring your scarves for the Everton game. Hold them up as the teams come out, let's make the whole ground a sea of blue and white.

I know people are planning Fancy Dress and certainly a few of us in the Family Stand traditionally bring inflatables to the last home game of the season (it's just a bit of fun for those of you about to criticise).

But after the fantastic TIFO by the UnionFS guys, it would be great to have the whole ground holding their scarves up as the team came out.

Also twirl them round on the Whooa whoa whooo in the Raneiri's taking us to Europe song.

The Swansea atmosphere was immense, lets make this the best yet.

Pass the word around, Twitter etc. UnionFS guys, how about telling the Mercury, I'm sure if they were to hear this from you lot, they might run a little article.
