adam Posted 28 September 2016 Posted 28 September 2016 I'm in the Navy, just tell him to keep his head down and not to be the class clown. Oh and get very fit .So much easier if your not hanging out your arse every time you do some exercise!

Ya he is quite athletic so I think he will be ok fitness wise , I wanted him to join navy , but he is scared of sea gulls , GOD HELP the western world with the likes of him defending us all
adam Posted 28 September 2016 Posted 28 September 2016 to be fair they are massive where I am. Another tip I got was to practice ironing. We had to iron all our kit every day and if your shite at it it takes bloody ages.

Ashley Posted 28 September 2016 Posted 28 September 2016 Get Sanitary towels for his shoulders not even shitting you when he has to do the runs with full load and gun on he will need them. Compeed up too.. Wasn't in the forces but I was a cadet until I got told I wouldn't be allowed in the RAF due to my Asthma PS. If he's not got a regiment yet and he's from Leicester... surely he's got to be a Poacher!
Samilktray Posted 28 September 2016 Posted 28 September 2016 1 of my best pals has been in the army 7 years and absolutely hates it, only staying in for his bonus. Never understood why anyone would wanna join the army personally, bizarre thing to do but to some people it's a big thing so fair play.
Countryfox Posted 29 September 2016 Posted 29 September 2016 Head down and never volunteer for anything.
ithuriel Posted 30 September 2016 Posted 30 September 2016 After trekking across marsh land, his combat boots are going to start to look shite when they begin to turn a dirty white with the salt after a day or two, so take some dubbing along with the normal boot polish.

I sort agree , I can't get it , have tried talking him out of it , but the kid is obsessed I'm hoping Catterick breaks him and he has a 2nd thought but I must say I have tons of respect for anyone that does join any of the forces
ARTY_FOX Posted 30 September 2016 Posted 30 September 2016 Best thing I can say really is tell him to just keep his head down and play the game really. So many tured up when I was training and either gobbed off or thought they were gods gift and they were just targeted by the instructors. Mine were pretty chill too. Get him to try and prepare physically too. You can't turn up too fit
