Mahrez hasn't won a single MOTM this season and this was Slimani's first one. So I don't think Algerian bias is that much of a big deal.

There are like 6 or 7 Algerians here. And it is not like slimani did not deserve the MOTM. He scored the winning goal and played his heart out. And for mahrez. He got whoscored's MOTM
