filbertway Posted 28 September 2005 Posted 28 September 2005 who do you think is our best left back and should play there on saturday i've added Tiatto as you never no with levein What about de vries aswell? i went for sheehan
Libertine Posted 28 September 2005 Posted 28 September 2005 Yes he has, but Lush thinks he's crap and that Maybury of all people has all the attributes to play in central midfield. The guys an ass Sheehan
Hazza Posted 28 September 2005 Posted 28 September 2005 Sheehan, though i can't see him playing on saturday. I've got a feeling Levein may go back to 4-5-1 to match Derby.
Sir JJ Wilcox Posted 28 September 2005 Author Posted 28 September 2005 No he can't go 4-5-1 thats how Derby play if we play 4-5-1 or theres any sign in the run up to thegame we will i will ask for a refund as i'm not watching that shite again like vs wolves

Unless Kisnorbo will stay at left back in a 4-4-2, and given that he didn't get forward in support last night it's possible.
Scow Posted 28 September 2005 Posted 28 September 2005 A 4-5-1 against a team who have won as many games as us (2) would be a huge mistake. To answer the question - Sheehan. Gilbert just doesn't look up to the job, although match fitness is allegedly holding him back. What has happened to him? Is he out of favour or simply injured? Comes back against Cardiff and then is nowhere to been seen again. Rather surprising given that Levein splashed out over £200,000 on him. Johansson simply isn't a left back and looks uncomfortable there. As good as Jase is, he's wasted at left back. Tiatto hasn't got the discipline to play there. Maybury has never impressed at left back, looks unbalanced. Kisnorbo? No no no. Nay!
Sparky Posted 28 September 2005 Posted 28 September 2005 sheehan for me too , just looks comtable there and can deliver a decent set piece
Benji Posted 28 September 2005 Posted 28 September 2005 gilbert sheehan imho needs a season or so, i don't like him just because he is home-grown, young and has great potential. although i always stuck up for heath, he was the same but turned out to be not very good at all when im honest

Sparky Posted 28 September 2005 Posted 28 September 2005 Heath is a lot better than McCarthy! ludicrus !!! i dont rate mccarthy a lot but heath would not be good enough for senior league football
Sam Posted 28 September 2005 Posted 28 September 2005 Kisnorbo, I think he looked comfortable there on Tuesday
Libertine Posted 28 September 2005 Posted 28 September 2005 Heath is a lot better than McCarthy! :w00t:
Sir JJ Wilcox Posted 28 September 2005 Author Posted 28 September 2005 On the moan in the other day some bloke said that heath was better than McCarthy and Nisse put together that made me laugh Why the hell did we get rid of Dabizas he's such a great player he still hasn't got a club dont think he can decide between chelsea and Barcelona to be fair
Scow Posted 28 September 2005 Posted 28 September 2005 Kisnorbo, I think he looked comfortable there on Tuesday Exposed defensively and poor going forward doesn't suggest that.
Louise Posted 28 September 2005 Posted 28 September 2005 I picked Sheehan. In my opinion it's really only a choice between Gilbert and Sheehan and while I've not written Gilbert off I think Sheehan has more to offer from what I have seen. He can take free kicks and corners and seems to get forward more. Gilbert just seems like a very quiet player.
Thracian Posted 29 September 2005 Posted 29 September 2005 I picked Sheehan. In my opinion it's really only a choice between Gilbert and Sheehan and while I've not written Gilbert off I think Sheehan has more to offer from what I have seen. He can take free kicks and corners and seems to get forward more. Gilbert just seems like a very quiet player. From what I saw at the reserves last night and in previous matches you're absolutely right. Gilbert played left-back yesterday and kept that wing pretty quiet until he was replaced at half-time. It would have been more interesting however had he faced the guy called Ishmael who worked the flanks for the Hammers in the second half cos he was fast and skillful - but it didn't happen, However, Gilbert made little contribution otherwise. His passing was ordinary and unimaginative. He was never noticably effective going forward. Two minor points however left me unimpressed. He took a throw in to a colleague but failed to shout that he was being closed down and possesion was immediately lost. Bad choice of throw, bad communication. A little later he received a ball from central defence and had time plus space in front of him. There were various simple passes on but instead of continuing the attack with an immediate pass he ran into the space, delayed the pass and by the time he made a decision, all the space had been closed and possession was lost by the recipient. When I've referred to both Chambers and Sheehan in their distribution I've remarked on how quickly they see the pictures and make their decisions, often giving their colleagues the time and space they too would like. And, while Gilbert said little to colleagues and didn't take any free-kicks (certainly not notable ones) as I recall, Sheehan was forever involved in the set plays and never stopped communicating to his colleagues even taking time out to give Levi Porter a real rollicking when he was involved in a defensive mix-up that led to a West Ham goal. Rolls Royce against a Skoda in my view.
AyewJoking Posted 29 September 2005 Posted 29 September 2005 I'd go with Tiatto for now but Sheehan is the future. Mind you, its hard to want Tiatto anywhere in the side because he is a liability.
