We'd be on for the quadruple.

Ha ha - One man doesn't make a team! Look at the other players who were "world class" last season......Vardy, Mahrez etc.

Of all the people they let Kante go - because he is not that outspoken ..& didn't score too many goals

BUT they upgraded half-dozen contracts

It's not about money exclusively. You know how low Mahrez salary was last year?

Well he signed a new contract in August so I imagine it must have taken him up to 30/40 k per week. Prior to that probably 15k from his initial contract when he came over.

That wasn't why he went. We didn't 'let him go' . We did bloody well to get 30mill + for a player with a 20 mill release clause

Not sure but i know how well paid he is now!

So, why did he excel when he was miserably paid?  This should answer your thread question.

Maybe Rudkin didn;t give him what he wanted lol

The trio Vardy-Mahrez-Kante should have never been tempered with.

they thought they could get a 20M replacement plus 10 M spare for some other riff-raffs

now that the wheels have fallen off - morale is shot & the players are revolting

..and personnel are not even in talking terms on match day

costly. very costly

Does it? Kante still at last seasons level yet Mahrez no where near.

He probably would've helped in clearing up the numerous poor passing recently made mainly by Morgan and Huth, and hence maintain ball possession and start up a counter-attack for Gray and Mahrez - so his presence would have been of much benefit, as Amartey hardly tackles whilst Ndidi is starting to get into the English game more.

Chelsea wouldn't be in the top 4 without out him.

I think they probably would be...

The existing players performing at the level, or close to the level they performed last season would have made the difference. There's no way we'd be struggling against relegation if that was the case.

I rather fear that he would have been dragged into the mire with the rest of this shoddy shower, he did well to escape from here....

Often when a player moves to a club they say 'oh he's worth 10 points more a season to them'

Seeing as Kante is worth two players and does the work of two top players I would say he's worth 20 points more a season.

What a pleasure to see him play for Leicester for a year.

With you there mate. I'm 40 and he is by far the best player i've saw wear the Blue!

I still believe that the departure of Kante (although it doesn't explain everything) makes more sense to me as being a major reason for this season's bad form, more so than all the other reasons I've heard so far. I reckon it has to be much deeper than that.

Can't help but think back to that West Brom home game he missed towards the end of last season where we ground out a draw against a pretty average side...

Maybe we could see then that we weren't anything special without him. Thank God that was his only injury last season!

He'd have made a huge difference. He really is fantastic at what he does.

I so miss his pace, his enthusiasm, his effortless ability to win the ball.

Was it Rudkin who gave him his buy out clause?

If so, the man needs sacking.
