MattCan Posted 13 February 2017 Posted 13 February 2017 Being fully aware of the big effect of Kante on last season, I would still hold someone like Vardy to a much higher esteem than Kante for sticking with the club and even more so if he helps us avoid relegation.
Ricey Posted 13 February 2017 Posted 13 February 2017 He'd have protected the limited defence, allowed us to press high and would have won more tackles and interceptions, allowing us to counter more often when there was space behind, Without him our style of play from last season does not work. We have no solution to that, so I guess the answer is that he'd have made a massive difference.
josh_baskin Posted 13 February 2017 Posted 13 February 2017 I've not looked at it like that, but look at teams like Southampton that are always loosing there stars to bigger clubs and yet still manage to find a steady replacement! Shows what a joke our scouting and recruitment really is!

I so miss his pace, his enthusiasm, his effortless ability to win the ball. Was it Rudkin who gave him his buy out clause? If so, the man needs sacking. Perhaps Kante wouldn't have signed for us if it wasn't for a release clause.
AyewJoking Posted 14 February 2017 Posted 14 February 2017 kante never wanted to be here but he knuckled down and was instrumental in the greatest yeah yeah yeah. vardy may have stuck around for a pay rise but look how he has treated the club since? even if all the rumours about him are rubbish he has still been little more than a piss stain of last seasons player. if kante were here he would make everyones job easier so we probably wouldnt have capitulated.
Churchill Posted 14 February 2017 Posted 14 February 2017 If Kante had stayed Claudio wouldn't of panicked and changed tactics like he has and you'd see a high pressing game like last season.
Babylon Posted 14 February 2017 Posted 14 February 2017 We wouldn't be going down, but I think we'd still be struggling compared to last year. Our system was being countered towards the end of the season and we were struggling to score like we did. We'd be more secure but we'd still be struggling to score.
foxy boxing Posted 14 February 2017 Posted 14 February 2017 it never goes away! kante Kante Kante kante kante kante kante kante Kante kante kante Kante kante kante Kante kante kante kante kante kante kante Kante kante kante kante kante kante kante kante kante kante kante kante kante kante kante kante kante kante kante kante Kante kante kante kante kante kante kante kante, bored of typing now!
Fox42 Posted 14 February 2017 Posted 14 February 2017 None. If ANY of our players left over the summer, they'd have carried on that winning mentality. Kanté would've just been performing like Mahrez is now. That's what a WUM would say...
Kitchandro Posted 14 February 2017 Posted 14 February 2017 I think a huge one. I actually said that if we could keep him, there was no reason we couldn't get into the top 4 again. Of course at that point I didn't realise that all our payers were going to become incredibly shit overnight and that our signings would turn out to be complete duds. If we'd have kept him I suspect things wouldn't have spiralled out of control like they have. He didn't make that much difference on his own, but I think him leaving was part of a few things which had a knock on effect. Still, there is an argument that he wouldn't have affected the bad attitude in the squad at the moment, that has been creeping in since last season finished.

IMO kante leaving meant that the players felt they had no answer when things started to go wrong (i.e. thery couldn't fix it). They then became griped with fear of making an error. But... the newer players don't have that problem - get them on.

Claudio didn;'t panicked.. he was picking mostly the same week after week. he panicked after last weekend!
Churchill Posted 14 February 2017 Posted 14 February 2017 If he didn't panic then why did he change tactics for the first game of the season without Kante against Hull who had just come up and missing several players. We had every player in our own half that day trying to counter, season before we pressed high forcing the opposition into a mistake.
Guest Posted 14 February 2017 Posted 14 February 2017 We are a little like the Titanic, in the end regardless of Kante (aka Jack) coming aboard and giving us a wirlwind romance, in the end we sink and jack still dies. Just like our season if Kante was still here.
Wymsey Posted 14 February 2017 Posted 14 February 2017 It wouldn't had made much difference had the club purchased one or two already talented, but more importantly established centre-backs with the £30m transfer fee. This irks me the most - sell one of our best-ever CM's for decent money but spending it on those that haven't really established themselves yet (Amartey and Musa, in particular, compared to Ndidi who looks settled and ready to battle straightaway).
walkerleeds Posted 14 February 2017 Posted 14 February 2017 Kante and Ndidi are going to be an unbelievable centre midfield pairing for Chelsea in a few months
Foxxed Posted 14 February 2017 Posted 14 February 2017 Mid table, possibly a little higher, definitely, since our main weakness would be protected, and he'd release our much better attack, but I think we'd need an on form Vardy, since his never say die attitude has been sourly missed this season, to reach the top 6 or so. Although our biggest problem now is team-manager communication, I fear. If we sort that out, which an owner vote of confidence isn't going to resolve, then we may survive. Team spirit directed us to the top last season, and team spirit may direct us to the bottom this season.
Guest Bob Hazels shorts Posted 14 February 2017 Posted 14 February 2017 He'd be pretty knackered. Only really Kasper that (Swansea aside) that has emerged with any credit, There is no way that one player leaving has caused every other player to play poor and not look bothered
simFox Posted 14 February 2017 Posted 14 February 2017 17 hours ago, ZeljkoKalac1 said: Exactly my point!....Why can't the top paid boys reproduce last years performances? Yet Kante is. Because Kante has joined a club with no wage disparity. It's a team of stars happy to be there, with established expectations of winning a title.i bet when the Chelsea team win their title, they won't get new bumper contracts Kante would make some difference but not as much as you think. It would have just been another player on more wages than others. More than the others felt he was entitled too.
josh_baskin Posted 14 February 2017 Posted 14 February 2017 But weren't we still getting decent results anyway at the beginning of last season with King in the side before Kante even made it into the starting line up?
BusheyFox Posted 14 February 2017 Posted 14 February 2017 For anyone who has short memories, just look at the match against Swansea last year which we won 3-0. Kante was responsible for all three goals . Just like Cambiasso the year before, Kante was the orchestrator of the team amid was hugely influential in the majority of goals ŵe scored last season. He made ordinary players...eg Drinkwater...into England players and all rose to heights they haven't been able to match since his departure . Ndidi may prove to be a passable successor , but not for a while . in the meantime, as confidence is shot to bits for the whole back four and especially Drinkwater as well, we need to leave them out for Millwall....get a confidence boosting win and enjoy Seville with a backs to the wall display , so that we are ready forLiverpool and Hull
USFox Posted 14 February 2017 Posted 14 February 2017 Kante would've made a huge difference. When we had him on the team at times it seemed we had 12 men on the pitch because of his work ethic. Had he been here this season, we may never have fallen so hard (starting with Hull and then Liverpool) and that might have resulted in us not being in poor form with poor results. I don't think we'd be first in the league but I think we would definitely be in the top 10.
SecretPro Posted 14 February 2017 Posted 14 February 2017 Given that the ungrateful little shit was so eager to jump ship without so much as a thanks, I imagine if he was still here he'd probably be just as sulky as the rest of the crybabies.
