The only let down today was Vardy tbh. Missed a sitter, and didn't really have that good of a game

8 - Vince (MOTM) bossed the midfield, Shinji-san made the world smile, Mahrezinho had a great and influential game (at last)

7 - Maguire and Morgan, both did very good 

6 - Simpson, Ndidi, Albrighton (that's more like 5,5), Vards, Schmeichel, King (to my great amazement he failed to do his standard disappearing act) 

5 - Fuchs - was more helpful and inviting to Swansea attackers than a school crossing officer to kids. And when theres option to pass it short, he says fuch it and hoofs it like it's American Football most of the time. Needs to get his old, calm and composed self back, for fuchssake

 

Appleton - 5. Bring on Pellegrini ASAP

He won away from home with 2 days to prepare his side, brought on King to sure up the midfield and Gray to inject some pace - how you've given Appleton the worst rating of the lot is pretty amazing.

Some harsh ratings for Albrighton (7) thought he had another good game put an absolute shift in and helped drive the game forwards, big hand in the second goal.

 

The Iborra (9 - motm) influence was clear but does Appleton (8) deserve the credit for it? It was clear that his job was to sit in front of the back 4 and be the play maker whilst Ndidi (6) was allowed to go forwards and be the destroyer higher up the pitch and join the attacks. Rather than having 2 box to box midfielders we had two midfielders with clearly defined roles and they both looked better for it, with Shinji(8) dropping and Maguire (7) stepping out with the ball we actually seemed to have plenty of options on despite Swansea (5) adopting a pressing game. A tactic that normally works against us. It may have been the usual suspects but there was a different approach in the middle almost a 41311 formation. A good substitution to bring on King (7) who came on and secured the 3 points.

 

Good to see a return to form for Mahrez (7) still some poor decision making but much improved, Vardy (6) was all energy but missed a sitter, he may end up suffering if we adapt to a more patient game. Fuchs (6) Simpson (6) and Morgan (6) all did ok but a few mistakes in there. Schmeichel (7) did well in tough conditions and his distribution was much better than Monday, no chance with the goal.

 

Final comment on Michael Oliver (8) best ref in the league in my opinion handled the game well, barely noticed him to be honest, can't think of any decisions I disagreed with, let the game flow and kept his head when a few tasty challenges went flying in didnt brandish cards and let the game settle down.

I'm not sure how much of that win was Appleton's doing and not the players' reaction to Shaky's sacking. He didn't do too badly but I don't think he did anything praiseworthy either. Although I think King did okay overall, I don't think bringing him on was the best idea. Shinji should stay on for another 10 minutes at last, easily. Having King together with Vince and Ndidi we still got overrun in midfield and just pulled back, last 15 minutes or so we were under siege. Gray should come for Albrighton and much, much earlier I think. Contrary to some folks I think Albrighton had a mediocre game at best, offered little offensively (apart from that one key pass to Mahrez) and invited almost everyone in on the Fuchs' side.

 

I have nothing against Appleton, really, but we were very lucky Swansea were so poor. The sooner we appoint a proper experienced manager (be it Pellegrini or Puel or someone else, who will agree to come here, sort the mess out and hopefully brings the best from these players), the better.
