I think in the 80's and we were doing shit even mark Wallington had a better chant than the Premier league, international goalkeeper ????

For anyone that doesn't know it went like  this...

He saved penalties

Wallington

I suspect Arsenal will come in with a late bid of around £40M in hope of unsettling him, I also imagine that the owners will tell them to do one, I just hope there’s an injunction put out prohibiting him from entering any airports on Jan 31.

They would not be the team to meet his desire to play consistent Champions League Football. It appears to secure that it's both Manchester teams, Chelsea and a coin flip between Liverpool or Spuds so no guarantee!

So if not one of 4 out of 5 Prem teams which of the European powerhouses, have a need for him, want him and would pay his perceived worth?

I personally  do not think that it is as clear cut as some think that Riyad will get that massive move.

This opinion is not based upon Riyads ability, he is unquestionably the most talented player I've seen in a City shirt in over 45 years, at his best a genius.

The owners hold the contract and all the ace cards, I cannot see us being mugged, so a 9 figure sum is not unrealistic imo, nor is him potentially being here next season if the offers don't come!

Only time will tell.

Genius... If you read correctly I was purposely singing that he was better than his dad..,.. Hence he is out of his fathers shadow and garners respect for his own career??? Seriously, some people

I read correctly. Saying something or someone is better is still a comparison.

If you're including how father in any form of mention to his father he's hardly out of his 'shadow' as you put it.

Crap idea.

What are you wittering about?

I can't really follow your argument but comparing him to his father (saying X is better than Y is a comparison) is a truly terrible idea. He has said he hates that.

Also, if you love him then you might want to learn to spell his name.

100 million ??

The most anyone has bid is about 30 million

There is a serious lack of understanding of how transfers work, he is worth what someone is willing to pay for him, obviously his ability makes him an expensive player, but it is not a case if x player is worth x amount and y player is worth y amount "in today's market" etc. For that reason I fortunately can't see him going anywhere although if he carries on playing like he is till May it is  going to be a long summer again.

Correction. He is worth as much as we allow him to leave for.

Why not £100m?

Last summer you could be excused for having doubts that he was a one season wonder after having a poor season last year. This season suggests that he is a player of the highest quality and last season was a blip which can be possibly excused due to the PL hangover and Ranieri sucking the life out of the team, etc.

Hazard had a terrible season after winning POTY and winning the league and no one questioned his ability. Mahrez's stats hold up against the very best attacking midfielders in the league this season and over the last three seasons and he's been handicapped playing in a low possession side and with more defensive responsibility playing RM in a 4-4-1-1.

He's also still relatively young and is probably an easier player to poach for clubs like Arsenal who can afford and attract him. Their options are limited as they can't go and get a Hazard, Sane or Salah.

I noticed, but no longer feel the need to say anything. I tend to go for absurd auto correct these days :)

I think it's somewhat futile pointing out all the spelling and grammar mistakes on here as it could almost become a full-time occupation!

Would love to pick you up on one at some point but unlikely to happen! :D

I make mistakes, but tend to go back and edit them - generally because of tiredness or auto correct.

It's worth doing.

Society is getting thicker and if you can't follow rules of grammar using the training wheels of autocorrect then there's something wrong.

Anyway we digress!

Personally I think we should hold out for £100m for Mahrez.

I used to think so too, but I am not convinced. What I currently think, is that social media is highlighting that a lot of people can't really write, and probably never could. It also demonstrates a general contempt for accuracy, fact, and education, which I find slightly bothersome.

Anyway, Mahrez...He'd be worth £200m if he could spell propah...

Almost felt like a farewell. I might have read to much in to it :fc:

I said that to the lad next to me,it was like it was his last home game.

Whilst I agree with this, it's the steady lowering of standards that worries me.

'there's more to life than measuring accurately' etc, etc.

Personally think equating spelling and grammar with intelligence is one of the stupidest things you can. Albert Einstein was Dyslexic. At the risk of going off topic.

Well no we can put whatever price we want on his head, he's going nowhere unless someone is willing to pay it or his contract runs out.

it's a pretty basic concept, try putting a tea spoon on eBay for £20 you'll see what I mean.
