I suspect we have a similar opinion but are looking at it from 2 different contexts. Regardless, £100 mill or piss off and sign someone else is my line.

The concerning thing for me is I suspect the club and player have an agreement on the fee that's acceptable hence why he hasn't kicked off, with the 50 million being the figure quoted in the press a lot likely coming from somewhere.  Obviously that was pre Neymar and he was in nowhere near the form he is now. So I doubt we are going to still see that as value and he will want to hold the club to their word.

Riyads been a total professional about the whole thing so far but once someone comes in and makes a proper attempt at signing him instead of taking the piss

like Roma he could start to act up.

It's actually Riyad doing the tactics, like Cambiasso did the tactics for Pearson. We got Puel so he can understand Mahrez easier because they speak the same language (French).

Why isn't he worth 100 million?

8 goals this season already, same as Hazard and more than De Bruyne, Sane, Coutinho.

7 assists, joint 4th in the league.

Another interesting stat is he has won more aerial duels than any other winger in the league, something I notice when watching him.

He will go for £100 million if someone offers £100 million.

If no one is prepared to offer £100 million, he and the club have a choice.

His choice is stop putting in transfer requests, and not to throw a strop if he doesnt get his way. Or else, if he doesnt carry on the level of form he is showing, the bigger clubs will give up on him, and he wont get a move to a club he desires to go to.

The clubs problem is, by holding out for £100 million, will they (potentially) allow Mahrez to **** the club over if his value diminishes, and then eventually we are forced to accept a lower offer?

Itll be a compromise somewhere along the line.

As soon as a club he fancies has a sniff that he is unsettled, the transfer request goes in. Well it doesnt work like that, he is contracted to Leicester and its not up to him where he gets sold to.

So unless a substantial bid comes in from Man City or wherever he was heading at the airport in the summer, hes ****ed anyway because we arent going to accept smaller bids from the likes of Roma, and if he cant be bothered to put the required effort in his options will disappear.

Mahrez wanted to leave since last May. The asking price is £50m. Man City stumped up the Money and the player wants to join them. We should do the honourable thing and let him go. Of course it hurts because he is the best player we have ever had but we can't the raise the price everytime someone comes knocking on the door. On the pitch he's been a great servant to the club but let's now concentrate with the players who want to be here!

Watched City for 58 years, Mahrez is a wonderful player,as skillful as any I have seen and that includes the fantastic Frankie Wortho but as far as heart and effort go I know which one I would choose between the two.

It is evident that Riyad thinks his future is elsewhere and the situation will get more & more disruptive as time goes on.

I am not sure he will shine from the bench of another team, whoever that may be, therefore there is a possibility that we have seen the best of him.He has obviously had his head turned on several occasions. he wants ,what he perceives, to play for a "Bigger" club.We , I believe, are at a point where we have up & coming players that will come into the team and really want to play for US.............so thank you Riyad, you were Great, no animosity, no vindictive rubbish, but thanks very much and wish you well in your new venture........Time to go.

I agree except I say we fleece Man City for all the millions we can get.

Well no it clearly isn’t else we wouldn’t reject £55m would we?

The market has inflated massively so the fee for Mahrez has inflated accordingly

Why should we accept 50m on the last day of the transfer window when it's pretty much impossible to get a replacement? They have had a month to put in a bid for him. Sane getting injured shouldn't mean we have to mess up our season. Look at how long they took sorting out the Nacho deal because they wanted a buyback clause. That meant he was playing catch up when the season started. Can just see this going the way of Drinkwater/Silva and us being shafted again. Anyone we try to sign now, their club will try and milk us so if he absolutely has to go then we should take them for everything we can get. Cancelled buyback option for Nacho and 75-80m cash at a minimum, but we should be trying for as close as possible to 100. Mahrez is the best player I have seen for us in my lifetime. (Weller was before my time). And as close to irreplaceable as we can get.

Can you remember the last time we were on the sweet end of another club's honour?  We pay through the nose for players all the time.  Sporting have fuched us over twice now, hiking prices; we bid 40 odd mil for Siggurdson that was rejected.  25 mil for Iheanacho and if you remember that same Man City insisted on a buy back clause

If someone had offered 50 mill in the summer we would have taken it.

Getting offered 50 mil in January 1 day before the deadline closes is an entirely different thing.

If he goes today at say, midday, then we have a matter of hours to find a replacement.  Do you not think any club we want to buy a decent player from will chargé an extortionate fee because of the lateness of the bid?

Selling him for anything like 50 would be a mugs game and I love that I have enough faith in the owners they wouldnt even consider such bollox.  We've been an ambitious club beneath them and to let Mahrez go today for 50 mill would be inconsistent with the ambition theyve shown thus far

Agreeing on the price could be the stumbling block of any deal this window, we clearly value him more than I suspect anyone is willing to pay for him so I wouldn't be surprised if he's here till summer at least.

But you never know in the crazy world of football transfers nowadays, he could potentially sit and rot now Puel is manager and not play him should he stay, could be interesting.
