I'm semi-retired and have a lot of time to spare. I checked this thread in the hope of finding some ideas of what to do as a hobby.

 

Instead I find that it seems the only thing suggested is something I gave up years ago.

I was hoping it would provoke a serious response. With a forum give people answers. Help people like yourself with a little guidance.

 

Seems I left it to long into the break and cabin fever had already set in.

 

I hoped the anglers golfers shooters and other would enjoy talking about other hobbies they love.

I buy antique and vintage wristwatches and pocket watches.  Is that the kind of thing you were looking for?  This forum sometimes.  You try and start a serious discussion and end up covered in cum.  X

Anything not just sporting hobbies. My idea was a forum and a place people could offer advice. Somewhere to chat about what you do in your spare time.

 

But sadly it seems it would need to be an adult only forum.

At the moment I spend far too long on the PS4.

 

I like aircraft and have visited a few museums and I used to go to airshows until they became overwhelmed by H&S. I did look into joining a model aircraft flying club then though I might find a drone flying club locally, as drones are easier to fly and model aircraft are so expensive. There are none, except those that exist for drone racing and that's not what I'm after.

 

I don't do gardening, I'm not an artist, nor a photographer and I don't fancy being a detectorist. This is why I was hoping for some more ideas that I might find appealing. (Oh, and I refuse to take up bowls or golf)

 

I have a drum kit but never had formal lessons, so maybe that's something I could do.

Have you thought about a model boat club. Anything from speed boats upwards. Electric is safest your controls will even tell you when the battery is getting low.

 

To start you could take it to a local lake or canal. Do you want to build it or buy a ready to run.

 

Ready to run is the easiest and cheapest option. But if you enjoy it a winter project could be building one.

Hey now I did mention some of my hobbies!  

 

But since you are such a nice guy (or lady?) I will share more

 

I actually enjoy gardening. Both cutting the lawn, ensuring it's super green. Planting both vegetable garden and maintaining them and the other plants etc. I find it calming and relaxing.

Lol. My two younger brothers would love me if I planted weed but it's not my thing. Never had a smoke or weed or done any drugs in my life. 

 

But with marijuana becoming legal here shortly maybe I should reconsider.

I live in Hinckley and the nearest RC boat activity is at Kingsbury near Tamworth.

 

My wife and I have seen them zooming around. I did hint to her that it seemed like fun. Unfortunately the guys doing it looked like quite "beardy nerds" and she was quite dismissive. But then, it's not about her. 

 

I imagine the build would be quite satisfying, though.

I've previously dabbled with home brewing, but nothing serious.

 

I'm thinking of getting back into it. Even if it tastes crap, an 8.5% brew has the desired effect!

My lad used to race rc electric tc cars so i dabbled a little. Thats fun but very technical. I did like the idea of a boat but never got round to it.

 

You must have a local pond or stretch of canal as long as your not thrashing a speed boat round. You should be able to start for £200/300. What sort of budget could you have.

 

I think you only need a license for planes.
