Quite right but the EU changed the 'rules' to protect consumers which it clearly doesn't.

From the consumer perspective it's 3 monopolies instead of one which is actually worse.

As for the broadcasters I'm not sure it's a massive benefit because it's driven up their costs the complete opposite of what competition should do because there isn't full competition.

Spot on.

The splintering of services in this way simply drives up costs for consumers and is the very opposite of competition which is supposed to deliver cheaper services.

Any other view is simply turkeys voting for Christmas.

Edit:

More generally, the protection afforded to copyright holders puts them in a privileged position. Whilst it is right that content creators receive appropriate remuneration for their work there needs to be checks and balances. At the moment, the law simply puts copyright holders in a monopoly position and needs to be balanced more effectively by ensuring better competition in content delivery to consumers.

Ideally in this instance viewers should be able to choose a service provider from at least two that give access to every match (outside the the usual restricted 3pm slot).

So more or less what I said certainly enough to make my point but thanks for the detail.

It’s 2.45pm to 5.30pm - no football allowed on television

Its only an FA, PL and EFL ruling it could be changed easily, money talks!

I thought it was a government decision. Tied into the same thing which says the FA Cup Final must be shown on pay free TV

Would love Amazon to use its financial strength to swat Sky and BT like an annoying fly.

And provide better quality pundits etc.

If this is just part of Prime, I don't know why this has annoyed anyone, it's 2 gameweeks and if you want to watch them just sign up for a free trial.

Remember it's the In thing to moan about something for the sake of it.

Theyre literally showing every game from the first midweek December slot and every boxing day game.

Don’t know about FA cup final, but the no games on TV at 3pm on a Saturday is definitely only an FA ruling.
