See I don't really think Cedric is all that neither guerreiro. Fonte is really poor, Mario isn't great, queresma is nothing special and Andre Silva is  woeful.

I don't think either has a spectacular team but if you wrote down the starting line ups you'd expect the argies to win. The biggest difference for me though is Ronaldo embraces playing for Portugal and messi sort of doesnt seem to have the same effect for Argentina. Ronaldo, scores or not is always involved. Even in the Iran game someone mentioned earlier he had so many people on him but still wanted the ball and drew fouls ect. They always look for him.

Messi has been abit anonymous. He scored a goal from a shot I'd expect Vardy to put away but second half you barley noticed he was playing.  I don't buy into the notion that he can only be good with Barcelona and that calibre of player Ronaldo is a different class to anyone at the minute.

I think the squads are pretty closely matched. Id personally take the Portuguese defense and central midfield area, id possibly take Argentina in the wide areas although Di Maria more often than not flatters to deceive and Pavon isn't the finished article.

Argentina do have an abundance of striking options, clearly better in that regard. Perhaps if you swapped the managers over, youd see a different result too with the two teams.

Just as a side note, I don't think Vardy would have had the touch capable of bringing a ball down over his shoulder on his thigh, then cushioning the ball with his next touch, then shooting across the keeper with his weaker foot like that.

I think he could finish from a through ball he ran onto and hit first time or with a touch on the ground, but with the weaker foot and the difficulty of the control, in my opinion Vardy would not have engineered that chance, the defender would have got back to him and blocked him.

@the fox I'm not saying he isn't up there in the top 2 players that ever lived. I also don't buy into the argument that he can only do it with Barca. I'm just saying for me. In my opinion. Ronaldo is a better player. Ronaldo dragging Portugal around doesn't get the credit it deserves. Especially when people also use the argument that it's not fair because Messi can't carry Argentina.

The thing with Messi, for me atleast, Is he has maradonna's shadow over him and maradonna does Messi absolutely 0 favours.

You're right Vardy would have hit it weak foot first time and scored on the full volley :P

No it was a lovely first touch I ment more the shot personally but that's a discussion I've been having with a Spanish Barca fan friend of mine.

But yea main point. I agree with you that they are really evenly matched. I'd just expect Argentina to edge it. Thing with the Argentine manager is I think unless you totally buy into his ideas. Its probably not going to work.

He gets more credit then he deserves. I have Ronaldo as top 3 but how can you carry a team when you are not the best player, scorer, assister are a playmaker on the competition and your team get past the group stage without a win an won the finals without you? He's a great player and goalscorer but if you are carrying a team, they should not be winning finals without you.

Ronaldo has one thing over Messi that I will admit an that is, performances in the ko stages of the CL.

You thought you were slick adding "probably" lol

No lol I added probably because if I'm totally honest I can't remember every game you mentioned vividly due to a lack of real true interest

So is Messi 4th then?

Are you joking? How can he get more credit than he deserves? People love to try and make any excuse to pretend he isn't as good as he is and he still goes about breaking champions league records. International scoring records. Why can't they? The final is a one off game? With the most influential person in your set up shouting from the touchline.

Imagine grown men getting this worked up over which highly talented millionnaire sportsman is slightly better at his sport than another highly talented millionnaire sportsmen.  They're both really, really good.

And yes obviously Ronaldo is slightly better than the international man of invisibility.

And the heart is just another organ. It's the make or break game. Or are we gonna start acting like the Finals are just another game? because Messi is surely getting killed for not winning it.

Is Ronald the GOAT cheerleader then?

Just a healthy discussion between posters (I Like Arty as a poster btw, so It's kinda fun arguing with someone who's respectful with no insults and some laughs)
