Watch Leicester City stars speak out against knife crime
Stars, led by Foxes captain Wes Morgan, support Leicestershire Police campaign

Leicester City stars are backing a police campaign to reduce knife crime.

Wes Morgan, Danny Simpson, Jonny Evans and James Maddison appear in a new film created by Leicestershire Police as part of its ongoing Lives Not Knives campaign.

The players have worked with police to create a short film in which they stress the risks of carrying a blade.

The film will be played at the King Power Stadium ahead of tomorrow's home match against Liverpool in front of a 32,000 strong crowd.

It will later be shown in local schools and youth groups.

City captain Wes Morgan said: “I’m honoured to be part of this campaign.

“It’s vital that young people have positive role models and that communities feel safe.

“If we as players can reinforce that message then we are happy to do so and hope that as many people as possible take it on board. It’s not clever to carry a knife.”

Superintendent Shane O’Neill, who leads the force’s response to knife crime, said: “We are delighted that Leicester City Football Club is supporting this important campaign.

“We know that many young people look up to these players and having their full weight behind Lives Not Knives sends out a strong message to young football fans that carrying a knife is not part of a team mentality.

“We are working extremely hard as a force to educate young people in schools and through youth engagement activities that carrying a knife
is not a status symbol and it comes with serious penalties.

“Knife crime affects all communities, particularly young people, so our hope is that this message from the players themselves will reach out to them above all.”

Sergeant Glen Iceton, knife crime coordinator for Leicestershire Police, will be at the King Power Stadium before tomorrow's 12.30pm kick-off to promote the film and the force's knife crime message.

Police and crime commissioner, Lord (Willy) Bach, said: “This is a powerful film that sends a clear message, endorsed by local sporting
heroes, urging young people not to carry knives.”

Good stuff, don’t know why a good bare fisted tussle isn’t enough to settle things anymore.

Half the would be youth gangsters of the United Kingdom’s cities think they’re American anyway, wouldn’t mind seeing them all rounded up and dropped off in the New Orleans or The Bronx, see how they get on lol

Well it is, but the loser will get his head stamped on.

Especially if the instigator was ‘disrespected’.
