Nicolo Barella Posted 23 December 2018 Posted 23 December 2018 Obviously it's too early to say, but if Chilwell and Ricardo continue playing like this until the end of the season then the only competition they have for being the best, most complete fullbacks in the league are, in my opinion, Robertson, Walker, Wan-Bissaka, and Digne. How exciting is that?
lcfc sheff Posted 23 December 2018 Posted 23 December 2018 Ricardo is better than Chilwell for me but that’s no surprise considering the fee we paid! For Chilwell to go up a level we need him to work on his attacking game, mainly his right food so he can cut in aswell as run to the byline
siraaj_lcfc Posted 23 December 2018 Posted 23 December 2018 Ricky P is amazing. By far the best wing back in the league, Walker has done nothing so far, maybe like only roberston who rivals him.
StriderHiryu Posted 23 December 2018 Posted 23 December 2018 They are up there! Here's a list of fullbacks at other clubs and whilst there are a few that are probably better, I could easily see our two playing for any of these teams. I saw on the Chelsea reaction YouTube channel many of their fans saying they should buy Chilwell (good luck with that) which I think is a great indicator of how good he is already. I'd personally say right now Liverpool have the best individual two, Spurs have the best depth (all 4 of theirs are pretty good even if none of them are elite level) and I still think Kyle Walker is the best one in the league. But ours are definitely good. Liverpool - Andrew Robertson (LB) - Trent Alexander-Arnold (RB) Man City - Benjamin Mendy (LB) (Injured) - Kyle Walker (RB) - Fabian Delph (filling in as LB) Spurs - Kieran Trippier (RB) - Serge Aurier (RB) - Ben Davies (LB) - Danny Rose (LB) Chelsea - Marcus Alonso (LB) - Cesar Azpilcueta (RB) Arsenal - Nacho Monreal (LB) - Saed Kolasinac (LB) - Hector Bellerin (RB) - Ainsley Maitland-Niles (RB) Manchester United - Luke Shaw (LB) - Ashley Young (RB) Everton - Lucas Digne (LB) - Seamus Coleman (RB) Other Notables - Aaron Win-Bissaka (Palace) (RB)

Thing is, so many of them are suspect in one way or another. Moving down that list, my opinions of those players: Liverpool Robertson - Probably the best LB in the league. Offers so much offensively and is very good defensively too. TAA - Good offensively, but honestly prone to a fair few mistakes defensively, which is why Klopp prefers to play Gomez at RB against the better teams. Man City Mendy - Best attacking fullback in the league, (just better than Alonso) but not fully up to it defensively. Walker - Not in great form, but massively pacey, skilled, and usually great defensively, he's probably the best RB in the league, just better than Ricardo. Delph/Zinchenko - Both do a job in that position but aren't anything particularly special. Spurs Trippier - good cross on him, but getting a bit past it and any Spurs fan will tell you his defending leaves to be desired. Aurier - Potential to grow into a world class player, but he has a few mistakes in him and isn't perfect at all. Davies - Very serviceable, but nothing special Rose - If he can get back to his form of a few years ago, he will be a contender again, but right now is still finding his feet after that injury layoff. Arsenal Monreal is their only good complete fullback. Both Bellerin and Kolasinac are whirlwinds going forwards but suspect defensively, particularly Kolasinac. AMN is still raw and actually a midfielder, injuries have placed him at RB several times though and he's done alright, like Zinchenko's situation at Man City. United Shaw - Ehhhhh. Chilwell-lite Young - Too Old Everton Digne - very good. Haven't seen enough of him to give a real verdict. Seems to have been their Ricardo this season. Coleman - Reaching the twilight of his career. Palace Wan-Bissaka is better than TAA in my opinion. Just as good as Ricardo right now as well. So brilliant defensively and wonderful attacking too. Walker will have to fight very hard to keep his spot from him in the England setup. Chelsea Alonso is great attacking, suspect defending, and Azpilicueta is the opposite.
Foxxed Posted 23 December 2018 Posted 23 December 2018 Chilwell is better defensively but Ricardo seems much faster and more threatening going towards. Marco's break for Chelsea's last gasp attempt on goal only saved by the uprights did leave Hamza and Richardo looking on helplessly but nonetheless Ricardo was the best player out there last match and his tackles and break for our goal was a joy to behold.
Chester Dontlie Posted 23 December 2018 Posted 23 December 2018 I'm a fan of Ricardo from the fist game I saw him playing for us and can't help but feel disappointed whenever he's left out of the squad. For me he's as essential as Maddison. Even considering defensive errors he makes (and which of our defenders doesn't) it's worth to persist with him as he's one of the few players that can make things happen out of nothing and change the game in our favour (and he really tends to put a shift in, at least most of the time, which is commendable) and neither of our two Daniels have his 'qualiteee' going forward. I was hoping Ghezzal would become a game changer like that, but it seems it's not working out so well with him, so far.
Lovejoy Posted 26 December 2018 Posted 26 December 2018 Ricardo rightfully getting the plaudits tonight, but man, how good was Chilwell again today? He’s setting the bar so high on a consistent basis, no argument over him being England’s main man on the left now. Defensively he’s become so solid.
SheppyFox Posted 26 December 2018 Posted 26 December 2018 Yes I think so, very close if not I do honestly think we’re the best outside the top 6, wolves etc are crumbling away
