Didn’t realise he was this tall. 191 cm, only 3 cm less than the slab. Probably suits Beaglehole

What's most baffling is that with his length, he can't win a header.

He’s not good enough

Unfortunately this is an understatement. I'm really wondering to see what's in store for him next. Having been "privileged" to see him stumble around for the better part of the season, i can't imagine him getting a spot in the starting eleven of a Premier League team any time soon (or ever, for that matter). With good coaching and experience, i think he could still have a nice football carreer in a lower/smaller league, but i think his ceiling will turn out to be too low for Premier League football. If, in time, he makes it to lower championship level, a midtable Belgian 1st div team, 2nd div French team...  i think he should be happy.

Well you know better than most , he has scored goals for fun up to under 19’s got goals for England in tournaments. His dad was one of the best strikers around in his day , the potential is there but he’s just not stepped up yet . Will he ever ? time will tell .

Wednesday dicked the kid around by sitting him and then tried to stick it to Leicester with the price.   They truly got what was coming to them.

It wasn’t a year and Everton offered £2 but got turned down . Sending him to the feeder club to save paying Wednesday anything may well have been the only way but at the end of the day mate I can assure you it was money that swayed him .

Papers say we made three offers with final one totally £2m. It wasn’t a year? It was an entire season, which is basically a year really isn’t it.

So you knew he wasn’t going to sign a contract but turned down the offers... smart going there.

And no I don’t think suggesting you tried to kill his career is over the top. You could have sold him, you could have loaned him... instead you binned him and refused him any football. A year out for a youngster at that age is massive in terms of lost development.

Again, what we did is underhand and I don’t like it. But you need to look at your own club who severely mismanaged the situation.

Paper talk is just that it isn’t fact . I don’t know why George was banned I think it was a ridiculous thing to do but like you I don’t know the reason , he was picked in the squad at the back end of the season so it was about 6 months , he was offered a very good contract and if Steve Bruce had been there at the time I believe he would have stayed at Wednesday, but as I have said he is not ready for first team football even at 20 . What I have seen of him he looks pacy .

The fact that he's his father's son, doesn't mean anything. Enough examples throughout history, where the kids can't fill their father's shoes (for instance Cruyff). Plenty of examples where the kids completely outgrow their father's potential (for instance Perreira). That he scored goals for U19 national teams is also meaningless. There have been goal scorers for the Belgian NT U19, that are now playing amateur football. I've already said this a few times, but i'm afraid Hirst was just physically ahead of the curve compared to his peers in U19 football. But once he's faced with even average defenders in our 2nd div league, guys who are experienced and fullgrown men, then suddenly he doesn't have a physical edge anymore, and it comes down to skill, smarts, vision, timing... and it just wasn't there. There have been two instances in an entire season, where he showed something that might be signs of potential. Once he turned at the edge of the box, and fired a missile against the woodwork. Another time he made a nice move on the right wing, and scored. But the examples where he completely bungled chances, got put away by defenders, greatly outweigh those few highlights.

We offered them two million and they turned it down. They then decided to dump the kid out of all their squads because he wouldn’t sign a new contract. They handled the whole thing horrendously.

Two wrongs dont make a right tho.
