CosbehFox Posted 25 July 2019 Posted 25 July 2019 Personally think they’ve gone past the balance now in signing too many players with little experience of English football They need players but there’s no knowhow there. Look how Huth was huge for us
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 25 July 2019 Posted 25 July 2019 Think they could have done with signing a couple with premier league experience. Not all of these new guys will adapt to the prem and a couple of older, if unspectacular, heads could hold it together a bit for them. There’s also an abundance of them available this summer for free/next to nothing: Simpson, Cahill, Delph, Jagielka etc.
The Bear Posted 25 July 2019 Posted 25 July 2019 Simpson is crap, Cahill is about shot and has the turning circle of the QE2, Delph has gone to Everton and Jagielka is already finished and gone back to his old club for a swan-song. The mantra of Premier League Experience is nonsense IMO, just as it is in the Championship. We had bugger all really when we came up. We just had good players who'd played at a relatively high level already. Good players trump any tired old journeyman experience.

The Bear Posted 25 July 2019 Posted 25 July 2019 The modern day David May. I'm not saying he was awful, just not good enough. There's a reason you bought Pereira.

Villa aren’t signing players with previous Champions League experience though. They’ve signed largely prospects
Manwell Pablo Posted 26 July 2019 Posted 26 July 2019 For those using us and wolves as shining examples of how to stay up we signed 10 players the summer we can up villa have also currently signed 10 players and wolves overhauled their side over a couple of seasons. Think they’ll be fine myself.

Cake Posted 1 August 2019 Posted 1 August 2019 It's a risk. Owners have a combined fortune of 17 billion so not short of a few quid.
HybridFox Posted 1 August 2019 Posted 1 August 2019 I think they are more prepared than Fulham. Having missed out on promotion once then gone up the following season even stronger. As with us, I think that will be a blessing in disguise for them. Yes you could say they are throwing money about, but for every Fulham, there's a Wolves too. I do fancy Villa to do well. Norwich on the other hand, I'm not so sure. Sheffield United are a wildcard like Huddersfield and Bournemouth, could go either way.
