Know what you mean about the silver lining,  but we both know that if we had have finished  in the top 4 then the the positives  (attracting better players,  keeping better players ..   magical away days ...   the extra revenue ! )  would have made whether we deserved it or not irrelevant.  That and fooking up in the cups was just too much for me and pain dulling is going to take a good while longer ...   oh the sports news is on the tv now ! ..   all about the FA cup final !  ...  happy days ...   :(

No, I agree.

The whole first half of the season, I saw enough from Rodgers to get excited to see what he could do with a decent squad.

People are blaming Rodgers, but it’s time we looked at the amount of dross we have in our squad.

Our squad is plagued with sub standard players, but we have a top 7/8 standard first 11, who unless the squad is improved will only perform like they have every season, just one half.

We just play our strongest 11 every game, wether they are struggling with fitness like in vardy case, and form like in kaspers, Barnes etc and I’d say most of the team, due to nobody in the rest of the squad Rodgers appears to trust to do a job.

I’m sorry but our squad is the problem, and some players who are fans favourites need to go, to create wiggle room for wages, and have the ability to push for a place.

When players get into a situation where they know they are nailed on to play every week, it breeds complacency, competition for places is a must.

Perhaps we should be asking the question, 'how many top four performances did we see in 2019 compared to 2020'?

And more to the point, why?

You've taken it awfully personally, mate. I know it hurts. Shit happens, and we came up short for a number of reasons. Onwards and (hopefully) upwards...

And I thought I was hiding my feverish bitterness quite well  lol

Still a pertinent question though, I think.  Why did we see such a collapse, not just just lock down but since Christmas?

I don't know the answer.

Injuries, exhaustion, lack of squad depth, loss of form/confidence, other teams working out how to counter our strengths, poor luck.

Experience as well. For me, anyway. We (well I do) forget how young our key players are. Maddison, Tielemans, Barnes, Chilwell, Soyuncu and Ndidi are massive parts of what we do, when it was going well and they were getting the accolades, it makes the job easier. The pressure, the know how etc gets tested when it isn’t going as well. In life, just like in football, bad experiences tend to give you a better level of experience then the good times. Those players listed haven’t really experienced much in football terms as yet.  I genuinely believe we’ll be stronger as a result. I also believe as fans, it’s great to have a young squad but you’ve got to take the good with the bad. The good being the exuberance and excitement of having a youngish team. The bad being the inconsistency and lack of know how - give them time.

It does, however, raise a criticism of our more experience players leadership skills....but who knows.
