I was just reading an anecdotal report about how Liverpool staff, those who do the tours, manage the store etc. are being treated by the club. It doesn't make for very pleasant reading at all. The staff, who are on zero hour contracts, were going to be furloughed before an uproar, which caused a u-turn, and now they have basically not giving any shifts to the staff, which means they do not get any pay. The staff have started their own foodbank and are dipping into their wallets to support each other. A lot of the comments on the post were 'this is modern football', 'one of the problems with having billionaire owners' etc. It made me wonder, how are we treating our club staff? I really hope we are treating them well.

Haven’t heard any negatives and we are the darlings of the game atm following our vote etc. But I have faith that our owners are looking after everyone but honestly have no clue.

A friend of mine got a job with them on a customer service role amongst a group of about 20 new recruits and was told hours would be variable but expected between 30 and 40 or so.

He's had a tonne of shifts cancelled and a number of shifts where he has gone home following half a shift because the volume of work they were expecting/planning for obviously wasn't there. Been pretty gutting for him given the climate as he has on some weeks been worse off than he would've been if he was on Universal Credit. Not good but not a surprise. I worked there in the prawn sandwich facilities whilst studying and it was similar to some extent - over hire, over promise hours and under-deliver. It's not new.

I saw something about Liverpool giving away meals or something, but don't be fooled. I suspect similar happens at most clubs to be honest, Tigers for example wasn't much different when I worked there either.

I can see how that was confusing! My mate works at Anfield, as did I.

My son is a steward for LCFC and has been paid his regular wage for every home  game since lockdown.

So looking after staff well as you would expect

This is fantastic to hear.

I guess the only people that have lost out are the agency staff that do the food kiosks on matchday etc. But technically they aren't club staff

Yeah, and that's pretty much unavoidable unfortunately.

Does he spend Saturdays telling you to sit down now?

He directs him to the correct chair in the lounge assuming he's got a ticket.
