Have you good folk heard of "Finders International"?

We have been contacted by the above in regard to a possible inheritance (no, im not about to become a millionaire, but mum might get a few grand), They are a UK based company and my initial google searches make them APPEAR to be legit, but Ive never heard of them,

Have you heard of them?

Do any of you folks have experience with them, have you heard of them being dodgy?

Should i start planning to buy my island?

If you know who's died, you can get in touch with their executors direct.  There are genuine inheritance firms who find unclaimed legacies and trace the beneficiary, and they work on commission, but until you make an agreement with them there's no obligation.  If you have no idea who might have died and they're asking for a fee up front, then they're dodgy.

They are probably legit, but as dsr says if you can work out who died yourself you can save a lot of money.  The problem is they won't tell you how much it is before you sign, but they don't usually bother for small amounts imo.  Negotiate on the % hard, and if there are any other family members in touch then try to agree together.  Also put in a fee cap in case they end up charging like 15% on £2.4M..

 

My dad this this with another firm who started off asking for I thik 20% and they ended up with about 7% for the 5 of them, was a pot of about £250k after tax from a distant relative who died leaving 2 houses.

I've no idea about that particular firm, but there are genuine firms who operate on commission as dsr describes.

 

My cousin was in this situation a few months ago. A similar firm contacted her to say that she and her sisters stood to receive a small inheritance (a couple of grand each, I think) from a distant cousin who had died intestate and with no close family.

As dsr suggests, they were under no obligation to the firm unless they signed up with them - and chose to pursue it themselves instead.

Spend a bit of time on Ancestry and plan out a family tree. Likely people have already done the hard work and it might help track them down. I'm sure it's worth £50 and a bit of time if the potential amount stands to be a decent.

My cousin didn't know exactly what connection they had to the bloke whose estate they were partly entitled to. 

She found out via Ancestry, as Babylon suggests.....better get your Dad signed up if any other inheritances turn up!

My brother in law had this. The estate was so small the big firms weren't interested, it was just a man working from home. There were so many into it it only worked out at around 30 odd quid each.

This is my inheritance, its the most beautiful inheritance anyone has ever seen , and its a HUGE inheritance, no-one has ever gotten a bigger inheritance. Im the best person that has ever received an inheritance.

The people need to stop searching for family members now.  You cant come in here after the day and claim the inheritance.

You are trying to steal the inheritance,
