Partick Thistle adopted a new mascot a few years back that was weird looking and scary.  Against expectations, it has been an enormous success.

As such, the new flag should just be whatever the hell this is supposed to be:

I'm quite familiar with that flag but I've just now realised the sleeve is the opposite direction to what I thought

Hi, the full details to design E can be found at  https://britishcountyflags.com/2017/10/19/a-flag-for-leicestershire/. As described there, the idea behind the flag was to incorporate several symbols linked with Leicestershire for centuries, the red and white zigzag pattern, a flower symbol called a cinquefoil and of course a fox. The county is so linked with the fox symbol it seems impossible for it not to be included on a Leicestershire flag - just like a white rose is on the Yorkshire flag, a bear is on Warwickshire's and the Stafford Knot is on Staffordshire's flag. So the design is intended to include all these traditional county emblems. It is also based on the layout of the council banner, with the same colours. For the competition the organisers have created a single fox illustration for all the entries but the original design looked like this leics-flag-2.png , which was based on the many examples of fox badges used by clubs and organsiations across Leicestershire. This picture is a brief explanation of the flag.leics-flag.png?w=651&h=266

I've always found it a bit weird that Yorkshire have the white rose as an emblem. It was the symbol of the House of York which drew its support from the Midlands and South. York, the city, was a Lancastrian stronghold during the Wars of the Roses. It was only adopted by Yorkshire in the 60's for sporting events unlike our Cinquefoil that goes back further than the 12th century.

You just can't have a Leicestershire flag without a Cinquefoil so only C is now suitable.

Bleedin' jobsworths.

I notice the winner hasn't been announced yet... hopefully BBC RL just give in and choose the one everybody wanted in the first place lol

It really is no better than this

Which is completely irrelevant, seeing as it's a flag that already exists for a different purpose.

Good choice in the end, looks great imo and will be flying in my garden in some form.

I can’t pretend to know why the council don’t allow it to become ‘official’.

However we have gone through a lengthy process and come out with a design imo which is no better than this.

It's nothing to do with the council, it's their flag, not the county flag.

I think it's better. The use of a fox gives it an immediately obvious identity, the Council flag doesn't imo.

Glad the right decision was made in the end. Will be getting one.

Got one and flown it at a Vw event a couple of weeks ago(among the many Black Country one's)and everyone guessed we were from Leicestershire.

I would like to see a brilliant gold running fox on a dark green background, with a small gold running fox in all of the four corners.

Shame the DeMontfort shield zigzag emblem was red and white. Would look much better in Royal blue. Actually, dark green isn't a bad shout as it gives a nod to Robert Dudley.

The main consideration is the Cinquefoil and Fox. Job done in that respect.
