6 wins from 7 away games in the PL. Including Manchester City, Arsenal and now the mighty Tottenham Hotspur.

It's incredible when comparing it to our dismal home form!

With the next two games that could become even more strange as we'll probably lose to Manure and then win at Palace.

Perhaps the answer to this conundrum is obvious to some experts on here?

Maybe expectations, and the way away teams are setting up.

I don't think during covid there's really a difference between home and away games, but I don't know if we feel that the emphasis is on us at home to go out and dominate from the onset.

There was a stat I heard today which said that more teams have actually got points away from home than at home so it's not just that are suffering the same.

We've had this problem since winning the title. We missed out on Europe twice under Puel due to poor home form and even last season after starting off really well at home, fell apart at the end. This season the Jekyl and Hyde nature of our team is even more extreme, capable of being brilliant one week and awful the next. With so many young players it's somewhat to be expected, but we even see these sort of inconsistencies from experienced players like Evans and Kasper.

I do think there are some extenuating circumstances this season with the heavy injury list and formation change as a result. But still we should be beating the likes of Fulham at home and the way we lost to West Ham was not acceptable.

It is also notable that we've fallen away a lot since the crowds weren't allowed in, though there were some poor home defeats last season even with the crowd such as Norwich at home and the humiliation against Liverpool, regardless of how good they were / are.

Both Vardy and Castagne mentioned poor home form in their interviews so the players are aware of it, though I am not so confident we will fix it quickly. I feel we need more experience in the team, and it's no coincidence that today with experienced internationals at good ages for football such as Castagne and Ndidi restored to the team that we looked far more solid. Today we only really missed Soyuncu and Ricardo from our best team and in Fofana and Castagne (and JJ!) we have players that are arguably almost as good. So perhaps that's all it is - experience.

My take on it is that at the moment counter attacking tactics are the most effective way to get results in the PL, a lot of the pretty ball playing teams like Fulham, Leeds and Brighton have been on the end of a lot of defeats from teams like Palace, United and ourselves who wait to pick them off once they've committed enough men forward.

The onus is traditionally on the home team to take the game to the opposition which plays into the hands of the away side. This has continued even in the absence of fans, you will generally see home sides have higher possession stats than when playing away.

Normally the presence of the crowd to motivate an attacking home team will greatly increase chance of winning but now with few or no fans the counter attacking sides are having a lot of joy, especially away from home. More and more teams are adopting this style and therefore a high number of teams are winning away, especially those that play counter attacking. Teams with better away records than home records this season are Palace, Man United, Aston Villa, Brighton, Wolves, Spurs, Man City, Leeds and ourselves. In the case of United and us it is pronounced.

'too long didn't read' - it's due to counter attacking being the dominant tactic which suits away teams and no fans removing home advantage.
