His red ball workload needs managing miles better if the latter's to happen. He was bowled to death before simply because he's as capable controlling run rate as he is in an attacking capacity.

Oh yeah 100% I'd say at the moment we have greater depth to manage him though, although by the next away series probably no Broad or Anderson

For anyone who's interested you can watch the Zimbabwe vs West Indies test series free on ICC TV. I'd say it's very much a check in on the score for 10 minutes here and there type of series, if you've got spare time (or a definitely not have on in the background whilst working from home series)

England scoring 465 all out inside 70 overs on day 1 of the warm up match in New Zealand. Only a 2-day match which seems pretty pointless.

Brook 97 including 5 sixes in one over, Lawrence 85 off 55 and runs at a more pedestrian rate for Root and Foakes,

Rahul needs to be dropped. Think Gill deserves a chance.

Interesting that Aussies are spinning the ball more than India did but not taking as many wickets. Perhaps less is more!

Didn't realise Rahul was still getting a game, just assumed Gill had come in to the test side as well. What happened to Shaw?

I think the simple answer to that is that the Indians are simply better at playing spin in friendly conditions, Smith and Labuschagne aside.

Can be any game between any team, but how good is the sight and the sound of stumps absolutely flying away?!

India look set to cruise this first test, Jadeja on for man of the match.

Didn't think we'd still be batting by stumps today. Jadeja has the air of calmness about him when he's batting in tests these days. Think I heard on commentary his average recently (last 5 years?) is 50+ in tests when coming into bat. Need to be looking at a lead if 200+.

It's the noise for me. So satisfying!

Surprised by how little Labuschagne bowled, also Smith used to bowl a bit didn't he surprised they haven't given him a few overs either. Instead they're just running Lyon and Murphy in to the ground.
