Opposing team fall apart on well-prepared spin-friendly pitch against talented spin attack in India shocker.

I've turned it off now, watching the end of the New Zealand T20 final instead. At least there's some element of jeopardy.

Can't believe Australia dropped Travis Head, Renshaw has been terrible.

I presume despite Head being in very good form they felt he wasn't very good against spin.

Might as well kept him in.

Regardless of ability against spin, Head was in ridiculous form. I looked it up and assumed he was injured and seems dropping him hasn't gone down particularly well with anyone back home. Ranked 4th in the world, probably their best batsman over the past year and can bowl a bit as well. I get your point though but seems a poor decision even before Renshaw failed.

Enjoyable start to the test match. As usual very entertaining cricket from England. Duckett feasting on the bowling.

Crawley was absolutely woeful again though. Dropped after a couple of balls, bowled off a no ball, played and missed at most of the others. Looked embarrassingly bad lol

I don't have the stats to back this up but has Root struggled under Bazball? Seems to be getting out playing unnecessary shots, I know it's risk and reward, but he doesn't need to take such risks so soon into his innings.

Certainly helps when you have a Harry Brook in the team.

Then Jimmy doing his usual stuff with the ball .

Joe Root maybe needs more time to adjust his game to the new way of playing?

I do sometimes wonder whether Flintoff or Pietersen would have thrived as captains under this kind of approach, but I think that's doing a massive disservice to Stokes's ability as a leader and a tactician.

I’m not sure. He’s the one where the batters like Brook, Stokes and maybe Pope could bat around getting quicker runs. It’s working well at the minute.
