I would always have Kante and Mahrez in my top 10

Kasper only just gets in my top 5 goalkeepers list but this is my opinion

,Shilton

Banks

Wallington

Flowers

were all far superior goalies then Kasper

Always feel that Mark Wallington is underrated, as he followed after two greats. He "saved" us in so many games.

Been watching a few MOTDs from the 1960s recently. Obviously, these are 50 + years ago. Convinced that the greats from that era would be just ae effective today. I'm thinking of players like Charlton, Law, Greaves and Charlie Cooke of Chelsea. Can't we extrapolate backwards to 50 years before that era and assume that players of 100+ years ago were equally great?

In a word - yes. What modern players have in comparison to that stream of great players from all the eras of world football is the benefit of nutritional knowledge, specific exercise regimes, improved medical knowledge and surgery, and the development of tactics and strategy. Also the detrimental effects of fags 'n booze are now accepted as gospel and any player smoking or over-indulging in alcohol should know they carry a disadvantage into any game. In addition, the pitches were often awful and the balls, in rain and on soggy ground, became sodden lumps of leather.

Those players you mention were all British Isles in origin and I wonder how the influx of 'overseas' players has affected those players drawn in from Europe, Africa and South America. Certainly European sides from way back have never had the drinking culture that existed here.

Until 2015-16 I believed Keith Weller was the greatest technical player I'd ever seen in a Leicester shirt. I consider now that Mahrez is a level above that -  which is real praise coming from me - because I dislike him as a person. I think Vardy and Worthington are/were also, in their roles, at a level just below the truly great. Those who remember Rowley speak of him in awe and Chandler must have been very special. Banks and Shilton were the most outstanding goalkeepers of their time internationally. Kante has to be in the list and, on that theme of defensive midfielders, Wilfred N'Didi is incredibly influential. Unlike Kante, he seems to glide through every game, which I suspect doesn't add to his rep. as much as other, more exhibitionist players. He even fouls with grace! Whoops - I forgot Gary Lineker - not so much a footballer as a goal poacher..

The Birch (I believe it was him anyway) was asked which player would get into the current side. He said that Izzet might.

That's twelve and I think there's a case for a dozen others - but I've gone on technical ability. Tielemans and Maddison could get there - as could JJ and little Wes - too early to tell. Schmeichel has been an outstanding goalie for us. Evans is a fantastic defender. Why United got rid is puzzling. And there is your conundrum about those great players from the 1920s and 1930s.

Great subject (as it ever is) but it will never be resolved.

Love Muzzy but it’s a tough call putting him ahead of Chandler...

Muzzy was the better midfielder but Channy scored so many goals.

The best 10 City players in my opinion since I started watching city in 1966 are:

1 Shilton

2 Banks

3 Weller

4 Worthington

5 Mahrez

6 Nish

7 Vardy

8 Kante

9 Cross

10 Kaamark

1 and  2  wrong way round   and Glover in for Kaamark  and as some watching since  mid fifties  agree a fair list NB although a big  admirer must admit strange to include someone who wasnt guaranteed a place
