I agree. Surely the statue has got to be Vardy with a finger to his lips, or cupping his ears.

Tbh, I think if Mahrez didn't leave on such a sour note, the picture of Vardy celebrating with Mahrez on his shoulder could have worked.

Vardy flapping his wings could work too 😂

How can anyone put Morgan over Vardy? 🤣. Embarrassing.

Having only really known players since the mid-late 90s I’m not going to be completely accurate on an overall best 10 seeing as we had good eras(particularly the 60s) before I was born.

However since the 90s we’ve had 2 of our best eras ever including our biggest success and a final of the FA Cup in an era dominated by money, so this team based off that has to be as good as anything we’ve watched?

My list from what I’ve seen since 97ish:

1. Vardy

2. Kante

3. Tielemens

4. Mahrez

5. Izzet

6. Lennon

7. Ndidi

8. Heskey

9. Walsh

10. Elliot

Far too much bullshit nostalgia In this list. I'd have any of our current team including subs ahead of Weller, Worthington, Banks and co. Saying otherwise is looking back through rose tinted mirrors.

Banks and Shilton  got in an England side regularly when they  were winners and semi finalists  people like Vardy couldnt get a regular place in a very mediocre side. As  regards goals Rowley  and Chandler would have been disappointed with 20. The league in the 60s was much stronger much more competitive  and how do  you think the players of today would have coped with the tackling and pitches on the way they  play today

Quite simply, put in the nicest way possible....You must be effin joking!!  Gordon is without doubt the Greatest City player ever. England`s only ever world cup winning Goalkeeper and universally acknowledged as the greatest Goalkeeper of all time....anywhere .ever.

We have some fantastic players playing today but really only Vardy would make the best top 10 .

We are currently blessed with a wonderful team and some will go on to be world class but to mention them in the same class as Wortho, Weller and company is just plain wrong.

That, your worship is the case for the prosecution!

Case well made but I do beg to differ sir, I think a fair few of our current team will absolutely be named in the same breath as Worthington, Weller and co in future, and that Vardy stands head and shoulders above them all.

On the flip side, people don't half overrate bottom-half players from the past when comparing them to the players from the past 5 years who've shown to be at a much higher level though.

Even if you permit for the differences in the eras, we were a mid-table club for a season or so under Broomfield, but mostly lower half also rans who also went on some of the worst losing runs in the clubs history - pretty sure our club records for most games without a win and most games without scoring still stand from the height of the Bloomfield era.

As much as I loved watched Weller and Worthington as a kid, it was in rhe context that we were a lower-half club who did well to tred water most seasons, the equivalent of what someone like Crystal Palace or Newcastle are in the PL nowadays and Weller and Worthington could barely get in what was probably the worst and least successful England squad of all-time in the mid-70s.

There's several players in the current squad I'd put comfortably ahead of Worthington or Weller - who were great players on their day, but not to a great consistency. Mercurial, erratic players like Wilf Zaha at Palace or Saint-Maxamin at Newcastle would be a good comparison point actually. Neither Weller or Worthington were anywhere near as good as the likes of Tielemans or Ndidi at a consistent level I'd say.

Walsh has to be number 1 for me. He was the epitome of Leicester city. Involved in most of the highlights of the 90s. His goal V Arsenal in the 3-3 and Fulham in the worthington cup summed up his passion for us.

Didn't see much of Kaamark. Was he that good? The rest, I wouldn't argue with although I'm not sure about 1 and 2s order. No Izett?

Never saw Weller or Worthington have a bad game. They were consistent from what I remember. They would definitely get in today's side and improve it. Ndidi and Tielemans play in completely different positions. You're not comparing like with like. Many top players didn't get into that England team in the 70s thanks to Don Revie. Alan Hudson! Better than any number 10 we've got today and he only won 2 England caps.

1&2 could go either way. Both great goalkeepers. Best goalies I ever saw were Yashin and Jennings and those 2.

I thought Kaamark was world class. Issett was quality and so was Dave Gibson both could of been in there so easily, but so could Glover and Lineker.

Can't argue with Jennings. Never saw enough of Yashin apart from 3 minute reels. Talking of goal keepers, been watching some old MOTDs from the 60s, I was surprised how good Peter Bonetti was. Unlike most keepers of the time, who seemed to always boot it down the middle, he nearly always threw the ball to one of his own players! (Jennings was an exception.) Shame I only remembered him for that qf in 1970 until this rewatch.

Yes, some of them will surely be City Greats, and several of them are pretty close now, but to be in such illustrious company needs a couple or three seasons yet.

I was lucky enough to see all the players I mentioned. Please don`t think I am denigrating any of our current team but in my opinion we really do have only about 10 players who are true club legends and it takes something special, over a period of time, to join that group

Vardy was better than Mahrez every season Mahrez was here for me, mahrez has more flair but if you look at it based on performance mahrez was always outshone by vardy.

"Greatest players" and "top ten legends" are two different categories really, although they can overlap e.g with Vardy and Lineker.

In the greatest, Kanté, Schmeichel and Mahrez have to be there because they're proven world class.

I would always have Kante and Mahrez in my top 10

Kasper only just gets in my top 5 goalkeepers list but this is my opinion

,Shilton

Banks

Wallington

Flowers

were all far superior goalies then Kasper
