Most middle class schools weren’t playing football … mostly rugby. I’m sorry if I’m offending the middle class posters on here but let’s be honest the club was founded in Leicester which was mostly working class people. Leicestershire  mostly always been made up of the middle class and supported the tigers. I’ve lived in Leicester 30 something years and hardly came across a tigers fan in the city of Leicester.

Many, many more City fans in the county than Tigers I reckon. Also many working class people!

Yes but only in the last few years. The county use to be the big tigers fan base. Leicester in the 80s 90s 2000s was dominated by working class city fans.

What?

What precisely is your definition of a 'middle class school'? Could you give an example?

In a middle class area ? Not one of the bad schools in the city of Leicester. Mostly rugby playing sorts.

This is nonsense. I've never encountered or heard of a school able to participate in any sport.

What are you going to suggest next? Hospitals disco-dancing? Bus depots reciting poetry?

You're a dreamer tricky, a reeeeeeeeeal dreamer.

In a "middle class area". You surely realise that catchment areas are more complex than that? What complete bollocks. I have never encountered a school in England, irrespective of where it is that doesn't play football. Moreover, the standardisation of the modern game and the basics of the rules were codified on the fields of Eton ffs.

You'll find every public school has a football team and plays the game as does every school in your so called "middle class area".

Got it. Maybe in Oakham, Bosworth or suchlike? MOST towns in Leicestershire aren't like that - not even close.

But I don't like dividing fans into categories. I know plenty of passionate City fans of all backgrounds. 'Class' has no bearing at all on whether people want to sing :-)

Some of the behaviour by our fans hasn’t been good recently. However, football, like the rest of society is going soft. Liverpool had to apologise for chants of “Chelsea rent boy” yesterday which were aimed at Billy Gilmour who isn’t (so far as we know) gay. Racism has no place in football, of that there can be no doubt, but some chants are just banter and people need to get a grip.
