It's early days and admittedly Fofana is a huge loss but ... with the amount of talent we have, including newcomers, notwithstanding further injuries, anything less than 6th would be failure in my eyes. A lot of this will depend on Rodgers team selections and tactics combined with his apparent stubbornness and failure to learn lessons.

I would bring in Soumare for 6/10 games and get him up to speed in the Premiership.

In place of who?

As others have no doubt said - we've been extremely spoilt over the last 5 years. Just enjoy the ride. The club are in a fantastic position regardless of either one poor result, or even one poor season.

Young squad, 1st class facilities and top manager.

Enjoy it.

It wasn’t actually bad at all and not a response to you but rather a comment on how so many people who replied to my thread clearly hadn’t read or understood what I wrote. I just didn’t want to add to some of the reactiveness by being reactive myself.

And then you were reactive to what you projected onto a blank post! That’s Foxestalk for you! 😂

Well technically I was curious as to what the post had been, and intrigued by the ‘kindness’ explanation, rather than projecting anything on to a blank post…

…but anyway I’m going to stop reacting now. Basically I’ve gone off the whole predictions game since 2015-16 when I decided it was all pointless. Anything can happen until it can’t, and whatever does happen, happens. I try to just enjoy the ride. Not that bits of the ride like Monday night are enjoyable, exactly…

Maddison.

Kasper:

Ricardo-Castagne-Amartey/Westergaard-Soyuncu-Bertrand :

    Ndidi - Tielemans - Soumare

   2 from:  Daka/Ihenacho/Vardy/Barnes

As @volpeazzurro has pointed out, true, you don't necessarily always need to deploy an outright No.10,  Are deploying Bertrand and Ricardo as WBs with Castagne as a makeshift central defender or suggesting four at the back and Ricardo in front of Castagne? Also, Barnes is an out and out winger - despite what some suggest on here, he isn't suited to a central role or up top.

I personally think Castagne was a very poor makeshift centre half when dumped in that position last season. At  one of the games, the pundits in the studio put up his statistics and they were abysmal, he was all over the place. Not his fault, it was an experiment that failed imo. There's also the point that for a player already not confident there, the added worry of starting back in such a potentially combative position with a face mask after such a serious injury may also effect his performance.

I do wonder if some have read the OP before commenting.

His point is the injured players

Fofana will miss the season

JJ out till xmas

Evan's? Who knows

Bertrand?

Vesty?

So Soy or Amartey out we are in a right mess. Tbh on Monday's showing that's not a great defence.

But it seems showing a concern for our current problems means your over reacting or an idiot.

Perhaps had some read the OP they may not of over reacted to the comments.

Well yes, maybe, but I think it’s fine to respond to a comment on its own merits without having to reference the OP every time. It’s what conversations do - they go off on tangents and in different directions.

My comment is reference to the many comments from others about the OP. So why would I not mention it.

Yes JJ may be expected back earlier. But as we have seen with Riccy P it can take a long time to be 100%.

Bertrand is it the start of problems as he's at that age where problems start.

Yes, it isn't simply a question of match fitness but mentality when recovering from such a nasty injury.

Regarding Bertrand, he tested covid positive.

Okay, okay - no need to get snarky about it.

I didn’t say you shouldn’t mention it; I didn’t say you (or anyone) shouldn’t mention anything.

If you were specifically referring only to people commenting on the original post, you can just say that - no need for that ‘so why would I not mention it’ bit.

Unless you say what your comment is in reference to, people won’t know.

Try reading my post then you should work out what I'm talking about ffs.

Hopefully Bertrand and Vestergaard back for Norwich which should add a lot more stability at the back ...  tough start to the season but we have some quality players to add to the squad and they will need time to bed in ..  Harvey will improve soon and get his scoring boots back on ... (as will Maddison) and (touch wood) injured players will start to return and no more will go on the list.  BR will mould them into a better A team with good alternatives to cover for injuries and extra games.  A new winger would be the icing on the cake.   Regardless of where we finish if, over the season, we keep improving (as we should), then that will help us keep our better players. That is the important part not worrying about where we might finish.

N.B. Not having a go at the OP as I understand the point he is trying to make.

lol I tried reading your post. I succeeded. I didn’t need to work anything out coz it was pretty basic. I replied. My reply seems to have confused you; I guess that’s on me for not being clear enough. Apologies.

Yeah. Have been for a couple of months. Just not as often as I was.

Sorry but being spoilt doesn't prevent critcism. I go game by game and if we were good I'll say it but if we were bad I'll say it.

I think we have to face, with perhaps a touch of humour for sanity, that expectations of finishing the league in fourth or fifth is too much to expect with the kind of defensive injury crisis we have currently at our club. Having six defenders out changes everything. It’s not just the loss of an £80m+ player in Fofana who adds so much. It’s not just the others. It’s the change in dynamics. We simply can’t play out with the same confidence. All of this is going to cost us points. The question is how many.
I also happen to think that starting Vardy in the lone striker role will also cost us points. He’s our legend but he no longer possesses enough of his old strengths to warrant the lone striker role. The goal against Wolves masks the problem. He’s missing more chances than he used to, and more frequently being outrun and out muscled. This could be a mid-table season. Hopefully we get strong again defensively towards the business end of the Europa League. We’d still be missing Fofana though who contributes so much. Time to downgrade expectations. Mostly because of pure misfortune.

Take that back about Vardy please.
