Football Manager 2022

£29m spent during the transfer window to bring in 9 players, and when I saw he was available I just had to pick him up... 2nd biggest transfer of £7m - was our record until I signed Fabio Silva for £11m later in the window

99 unbeaten in the league. Another treble. Ukrained job turned down again last summer, contract runs til 2048 at which point I think i'll call it quits. Will take me level with Shakhtar's recent legendary manager in terms of domestic divisions won, need 4 more domestic trophies to match. 3 more league wins will make us the most successful club in the country.

Going through a bit of a transition now having to change my formation, dropping my CAM (now 34 this year) into a flat 3 in midfield. No decent Ukrainian CAMs out there (or for any position really) but I do have an abudance of talented young CM's, so i'll have to chop and change my 3 foriegn CM's and always play a local lad in there. I'm having to rely on CBs who are 2 star, sometimes 2.5, to partner my star Serbian CB. My LB is a 2.5 Ukrainian. A RW who came through my academy who never looked that good, but was valued at 20-25m as a 17yo finally made his breakthrough as a backup RW for me a couple of years ago at the age of 22, he's realised his potential quite well but he's back up to the 50m wonderkid I pinched from Metalist.

Am now in 2048, have done 3 further seasons. 45/46 was a standard treble, 70m spent and 100m in with transfers. 54m of that 70m was an 18yo striker from Metalist. 76m of the 100m was my star striker to Man Utd. 19m came from my players' retirement home otherwise known as Red Bull Salzburg.

46/47 I sold my solid-at-best rotational striker to Arsenal for 80m. Raked in a further 30m and spent 44.5m. Made it to the Quarter Final of the Champions League, losing on penalties having won the first leg 2-1 (last min Barcelona goal) :( Absolutely battered in the second leg so was grateful for penalties. Another treble though. My long term unbeaten league record came to an end at 132 games (Apr 42 > Aug 46)

My final season 47/48 i'm looking for my 10th consecutive title, and a quintuple treble. I go a bit more all out signing a quality LB on loan from Man City, a wonderkid GK from Brazil for 16m and the Dion Dublin of Ukrainian football who emigrated to Porto from Shakhtar a few years back, for 30m. Also secured the services of a Romanian wonderkid defender but sent him back on loan for 12 months. Spent 71m, brought in 87m. My squad at this stage has a really healthy number of solid Ukrainian players, many from my own academy.

I had a great number of bids from the Super League vultures which I feel unsettled my players more than previous years, and coincided with my worst start to a season probably in all my time here. 4pts from my first 12, including a disgusting 1-0 defeat at home to ****ing Oleksandriia which was my first home league defeat in over a decade. Already quite adrift in the league, had little choice but to win all my remaining 26 matches.. and I did lol I was level with Dnipro when I played them away with about 6 games to go, and walloped them 5-0.

Champions League group was a bad one consisting of Man City and Milan, which I got knocked out of. Blessing in disguise, it finally gave me a chance to have a crack at the Europa. Wins against Nantes, Hannover 96, Monaco and Lazio (the latter two rather lucky in the end) meant I played Roma in the final. I won 1-0 with an 88th min winner after Roma were reduced to 10men. A facking quadruple. That was my final game so a nice way to go out. European trophies were my aim when I joined, never thought i'd enjoy the league season as much as I have done, and definitely never thought i'd see Shakhtar fall as low as they have. Finished 7th last season and out of the European qualification spots. Euro 2048 is happening and am hoping the Ukraine manager gets the boot lol

Been a while since i've spent this long at a club, especially one I've won as much as I have done even though most of it insiginicant lol . 15 and a half years

13 Ukrainian Premier Leagues

10 Ukrainian Cups

10 Ukrainian Super Cups

1 Europa League

10 Manager of the year

256 manager of the week/month awards combined

Games played 673

Games won 544

Games drawn 59

Games lost 70

Goals scored 2071

Goals against 471

GD 1600

Money spent 764m

Money received 1.31b lol

Only lost 14 league games since the start of my first title winning season (420 games) Streak of 146 unbeaten at home. 12 times over 100 goals scored, 7 unbeaten seasons, 202 goals conceded. Scored 5+ goals in a match 125 times. 10+ goals 5 times.

Shakhtar H2H W27 D10 L9, won the last 12 against them including a 6-1 drubbing in my last "visit". Never lost to Zorya, only beaten once by Dnipro. Could sit here all day reminiscing over daft stats lol

I can't bring myself to look at what the new manager is going to do to that squad i've left him. In true FM style he will probably do a fire sale and make about 75m from 10 players when I could easily have made 500m+

Also miffed that Tavria Simferopol now appear to be a Ukrainian Club on this game as their job has just became available in the 2nd tier. I wanted them to be my first club on this save but they were a part of the Crimean Premier League?!?!?

Stayed an extra year in South Africa and it was a miracle of a season. Won the lot. Won the league with 75 points. Won all three domestic cups. Beat Orlando Pirates in the Carling Black Label pre-season. Even retained the Champions League beating Al-Ahly on penalties. Beat Zamalek in an amazing semi final, lost 2-0 away and beat them 4-1 at home with three late goals. It's one of them where it felt a bit too simple at times. Pure trophy padding.

Bagged the Monterrey job in Mexico. They've just come off the back of a really bad season, particularly the Clausura where they've somehow gone 11 without a win at the end of the season, which is highly embarrassing for a side like them. I'm unsure on how you qualify for the CL over here to be honest, looks quite confusing given you have two seasons in one essentially. It does look quite well set up for Mexican sides though, they largely dominate it which you would kind of expect.

Early observations of the squad is it's appallingly constructed, so many over 30 players on big wages but luckily a lot of them are out of contract this summer so I've got pretty much free reigns for a rebuild. Don't know if I'll bring any of my old players over - depends what the scouts have up their sleeves but I do appreciate this is a much tougher league than South Africa so I won't buy them for the sake of it. Looks a fairly kind league for restrictions on transfers too so there's a lot of possibilities.

The funniest discovery in this squad is that their best defender is our own Ben Nelson! He's 30 now but he's good, particularly for this league he should be pretty dominant. I'm hoping to have won the CL within probably 3 seasons - don't think I'm in it this coming year but I could be wrong, I think Mexico does consider historical performance in a lot of things (relegation in particular).

Apologies for interupting the FM hipster chats with a bog standard game but...

Had a great start to my Preston save, top going into November by 4 points.

Funnily enough it might be my most boring tactic ever that's creating this success lol

Standard 4-4-1-1 Custom Gegenpress with wide midfielders on either side of a BBM and MEZ

Iversen is an absolute beast lol

Definitely need a better 10 and 9 to maintain this start, but really pleased so far.

Have promotion and relegation started up again within FM in Mexico. They're on hold until like 2025 or something in real life.

Average points are so annoying when you like the look of a big club potentially dropping down.

Looks like it to me but I think they base it on average points or something like that.

I'm not sure if I've qualified for next seasons CL - actually kind of hope I haven't. South Africa was good but I won the CL almost too early.

Might pick up a Mexico save at some point, promotion/relegation possibly not reappearing always put me off doing it though. Yeah average points is pretty annoying, as far as I can tell it's a way to let big clubs have a bad season and not go down.

Yeah the likes of Monterrey will simply never go down. I think they came 3rd in the Apertura and then 16th in the Clausura (which is unbelievably bad for them) so I've no idea if they've qualified for anything. I'll have another go on it later. Got a £7mil budget and I reckon we'll free up a good £200k a week in wages too.

Monterrey are a bigger club than Preston so I think you're the real hipster IMO.

lol good point

I was searching for one of those 'sleeping giant' type saves. I think I convinced myself I could be a bit of a Moyes with Preston but go that one step further and try and get to europe pretty sharpish.

Is it just me… or in a central midfield two, do you always put the defensive minded player on the right and the attack minded player in the left? lollol

I don't think so, but if I ever play a flat 3 I always have a weird compulsion to have the central one behind the other two in terms of role positioning. Oh and the other two have to be level with each other 😂

I think I'm often the opposite but for me it's often about their stronger foot. I'm quite particular with who I buy.

One weird quirk of mine when I'm managing is I generally have both wide players favour the same foot.
