Claridge is a really good shout. After we were relegated from the Prem, and McGhee left us for Wolves, O'Neill struggling in the job, we sign a 29 year old journeyman who hadnt played top flight football. Its fair to say he proved me wrong.

We've historically not been a big enough club to make anything other than underwhelming signings. Cambiasso and Tielemans are the only signings I can think of that, at the time, might have given our fans a chubby-on.

I'll also admit that I thought Mahrez would never be as good for us as Knockaert.  That assumption was fairly quickly squashed though  

From memory, we’d tried to sign him for £2.5m around 2004 - 2005, but signed Keown instead.
